A shield made of wood!

You lean into the chest and grab its contents- that being a shield made of wood. You pick it up and examine it, giving a satisfied nod and smiling.

The handle was made of metal, apparently being the only part of the shield made of metal. Though it had a black leather wrap around it. It felt comfortable and suitable for a warrior. The back itself was plain, looking plain overall. Yet when you turned it around and inspected the front, your eyes couldn't help but widen in surprise. It had carvings of flowers, with vines appearing to surround the central orchid. It was beautiful.

You take it in your good hand and take a look at both the left and right exits.
