Chapter 9
by FredWeasleyLives1
Is this the end?
A rude awakening
Sereena's POV:
I am Sereena and something has interrupted my peaceful sleep. I look at my digital alarm clock and see that the time is only three in the morning. I usually don't have a problem with in insomnia so it is a mystery at first why I would wake up so early. I sit up in bed wearing a green silk nightgown. I find out what woke me up when I hear a noise coming from someplace. At first I have no idea what the noise was, but I figured it out by straining my ears for a couple of seconds. The noise is coming from Sadie's room. I get out of bed in a hurry to see if she is okay since she is my only roommate since Brooke is now living with her husband Keo. As I am about to open Sadie's door, I realize that my friend is talking in her sleep which must mean that she is having a nightmare. Sadie is one of the spunkiest people that I know so I have absolutely no idea what could scare her enough to make her have such a bad dream. Once I got close to my poor roommate, I got a pretty good idea what she was dreaming about because of the words coming out of Sadie's mouth.
"SOMEONE HELP ME!"
"No one will hear you!"
"Why are you doing this?"
"Why do you think?"
"Because you're the world's biggest jerk?"
"When you are gone, Leah will be mine!"
"Leah wouldn't be that stupid whether I am here or not!"
"I can be very persuasive!"
"What's the matter? You aren't getting tired are you?"
"You are really starting to bore me!"
I figured out that Sadie was having a nightmare about Camilla as soon as Sadie mentioned her girlfriend Leah. I have never met Leah's ex personally thank goodness, but that witch had the nerve to hit on Leah after Chick Clicks won the Blackbourne Award. I just know Camilla won't be stupid enough to try that again after the way Sadie bit her head off. I was so proud of her. Well, I have decided that Sadie has been trapped in this nightmare long enough.
"Sadie, wake up!" I commanded while shaking her right shoulder.
I was pushing on my friend's shoulder a little harder when I made a terrible mistake. I got my head too close to the sleeping girl. Before I knew what was happening, I saw the redhead closing her right hand into a fist. I should have known that something bad was about to happen. I should have gotten away, but I froze in disbelief because of what was happening.
"Sadie..." I gurgled in shock.
Sadie's fist shot off like a cannon and collided with my right eye. I heard a sound that was quite similar to thunder and I flew down to the floor. I covered my right eye and groaned in pain as I tried to blink away the spots in front of my eyes. I have learned a very important lesson. You should never get too close to a person having a nightmare. The only good thing about all of this was that the impact jolted Sadie awake.
"Sereena? Sereena, are you okay?" Sadie whined as she sat on the floor next to me.
"Ungh!" I gurgled while trying to come to my senses.
"I am so sorry!" Sadie howled as she started to cry.
"Hey! Hey! Don't cry! It was just an accident! You did nothing wrong!" I protested while putting my arms around Sadie and hugging her.
"It seemed so real!" Sadie surmised.
"It wasn't real!" I argued. "Camilla isn't here and she can't hurt you especially not if you have a punch like that!"
"I'm glad you're here, Sereena!" Sadie blubbered.
"I've got an idea," I mused. "Let's kill Camilla and throw her body into the sea! We can even frame TJ for it!"
"I appreciate that suggestion, but I don't think that it will be necessary since I chased her away last night," Sadie guessed. I could tell that my suggestion made Sadie smile a little.
"Sadie, do you think that we could move this conversation to the couch where we will be more comfortable?" I offered.
"Okay," Sadie conceded while allowing me to lead her into the living room. Once we sat on the couch, a tear came out of Sadie's right eye to show me that the nightmare had a more profound impact on my redheaded friend than I thought. I quickly retrieved a box of tissues from the coffee table in the center of the room in response to the tears. "First of all, I just want to say that I am very proud of you because of how you handled Camilla at the Gala. You were so hard core."
"It was so satisfying to tell her off!" Sadie shot off.
"Could you tell me what happened during your dream?" I pressed.
"I can't!" Sadie refused.
"It will hurt you if you don't let it out," I pressured.
I listened patiently while Sadie cut herself open and told me about her bad dream. I enclosed her right hand in both of mine to show my roommate how much I cared about her. I could tell how hard it was for the poor girl to share her dream with another person. Let's face it. I don't think that I am equipped to handle a problem of this magnitude all by myself. Fortunately, I know someone who is.
"How about I get us some ice cream?" I offered while standing up from the couch.
"Sure," Sadie accepted which caused me to stand up and start walking towards the kitchen. "Do you need me to take you to the emergency room? That bruise is going to turn into a bad shiner."
"No, I'm fine," I refused with a smile. "At least I'll have an interesting story to tell my girlfriend when I go on my date tonight."
"You might be able to get a few sympathy points because of this," Sadie joked.
"That's a way to put a positive spin on this," I jibed back.
I went to the kitchen to perform my mission of mercy. Actually, I had a more important reason than ice cream to go to the kitchen. I wanted to get some help in here and I didn't want my roommate to see me do it. I took out my cellphone and texted the one person who would be the most helpful to Sadie. I knew it would be easier to call someone at this time of night, but I didn't want Sadie to hear what I was doing.
"Leah?"
"Lucky someone's stereo woke me. What's up?"
"Sadie had bad dream about Camilla. Worried about her."
"I'll leave Andi with a neighbor and be right over."
That's all I can do now to help Sadie. All I can do now is get the ice cream and wait."
