Chapter 6 by nobodyspecial2324 nobodyspecial2324

What's the message?

A response

The ding was from a simple text message. It simply said, "Who is this?"

Iris smiled - it looks like her target had taken the bait. She plugged her phone into her laptop and opened an application she had made for herself. She picked up her phone and replied, "Your secret admirer. All I want is to meet you - alone."

She sent the message and adjusted some settings. All she needed was a few more messages, and her software would be able to pinpoint the location of the sender. She didn't need to wait long - a few more minutes later, her phone dinged again.

"Is this a prank?", was the reply.

She thought for a second. Perhaps her first message was a little too forward. It stood to reason he would believe it was fake - how likely was it that a girl would write her number on her underwear and sneak it into his backpack? It being a prank by some fratboy was far more likely. She needed him to message her some more, at least until she could find where he was.

"I'm someone from your class. I'm ready to meet you at a time and place of your choice - it's not a prank, honest."

She sent the message, and cringed. Why was she so bad at this? Her friends had no problem talking to and picking up guys - if anything, keeping them at bay was a bigger problem. Computers were more her thing - people, not so much.

She waited for almost half an hour, but there was no reply. She threw her laptop onto her desk and slammed her body on the bed, disappointed. It looked like it was going to be another lonely night for her, as her roommate would likely be out partying until the early morning.

After a few more minutes of nothing, she decided to give it up and got under her blanket, turning off the lights.

She was about to doze off when another ding altered her. She rushed to her laptop and opened it, while looking at her phone. There was a new unread message.

"Nice try. Never message me again."

She sighed - so much for charming him into giving away his location. However, she had what she needed - three messages from a single phone number. With those, she could pinpoint the location where they had come from. That was all she needed.

She began her work, the sleep gone from her body. She finally found it - although it wasn't one of the usual dorms, or even one of the apartments near the campus. Instead, the phone in question seemed to be located in a lone house a few miles out from campus.

What does she do next?
