Chapter 3
by Sable Flame
What book are you copying?
A portraiture book (Ethnic descriptions).
You flip through a series of portraits, spending a little time just enjoying the art. Since their founding, the Amazon Isles have been populated by women from every nation around the Central Sea, so every major ethnicity is represented here.
Here is a portrait showing the classic Dusein features from the westlands: Tanned skin, dark almondine eyes, hair so black it looks almost blue. This next portrait has the same tanned skin and narrowed eyes, those are almost universal among the Dusein, but the hair is streaked with the copper that marks the sangreal. That must be a portrait of a Doramin woman, the sangreal is a mark of Aeshdan's favor and fades to gray if its bearer becomes an Amazon. And here we have a portrait with pale golden eyes. Lighter eyes are not uncommon among the Dusein, though they seem to show up most often in those with at least a touch of the sangreal.
Continuing on, you come to a series of Minervans. These features: olive skin, dark hair, dark eyes, are among the most common here on the Isles, though by no means to the exclusion of other ethnicities. In fact, you realize that one of these portraits is of you, when you were still a novice. Athela bear witness, you look so nervous here.
And here we find some pictures showing Carnish features. To your eyes, these people look almost bleached, their skin and eyes are so pale. Hair is likewise often silver-blonde or golden-blonde or a sort of straw-yellow, though black hair shows up in a couple of places.
Jumping across the Central Sea, here is a painting showing one of the Achu tribeswomen, from the far south. Her skin is almost as dark a black as your sash, and her hair and eyes are nearly the same shade. Her hair is oddly frizzy, curled almost like sheep's wool.
Ah, here you are. More portraits, but without labels or explanatory text. Well, at least you'll have more nice pictures to look at.

Chosen Of The Moon
Lesbian Amazons with a terrible curse
In ancient times, the Moon Goddess Ama chose women from around the central sea to be her Amazons, her chosen people. She granted them freedom from man's rule, and even the power to reproduce via lesbian sex, but on the condition that none of her children ever permit a man to impregnate them. Centuries later, see how many different lives are impacted by that command.
