A portal

A grey portal was floating in the air before her. It looked like a grey circle 3 meters in diameter and was of the type that did not allow people to see what is on the other side. Surprisingly it was unguarded and unprotected by any spells or traps.

‘A portal used to connect two remote places. That would explain how Trolls are coming out of an abandoned mine. If there are any Trolls, that is – unless I am mistaken portals with this appearance are used by Lizardmen spellcasters.’

Further examination of the portal revealed nothing more. There was absolutely nothing to indicate what is on the other side. With a sigh Ciara gave up on her search and started considering her options instead:
She could leave the portal alone and wait in ambush for whomever or whatever passes through it. Which could take hours, or even days.
She could simply close the portal. But would that do any good? Whoever had opened this portal should be able to open another in its place…
Or she could take the chance and enter the portal. There was no way to know what she’d find on the other side, but Ciara felt pretty confident that she would be able to deal with any threat, especially if she had to deal with Trolls. This way she could also find some information, or maybe even find out what was really going on...
