Jess dropped Hunter at the train before heading off to her substitute teaching assignment. He found a seat and opened the paper, scanning headlines without much interest until a small one paragraph article caught his eye.

'One killed, two injured in park attack' the headline read.

'One man was found dead, and two more seriously injured in Prospect Park late last night. Police were called to the scene, but no arrests have been made, and the victims have not been identified. Police spokesmen declined comment on whether this was another incident of gang ****.'

Hunter closed the paper and stared out the window of the train, smiling softly to himself.
