A party in town

It had been a bizarre experience for Adam to watch as his and Helen's bodies had gone about their business on autopilot. He had insisted on observing how they behaved for at least a few minutes before leaving. Once he was happy with what he saw, the couple had floated out of their house in spiritual form. Adam was struggling to keep up with his girlfriend until she abruptly came to a stop in front of a large house in the fancier part of town.

"I'm guessing whoever you plan to possess lives in this place then?" Adam said as he took in the expensive looking home. It had to be several times the size of their modest home. There were white pillars framing the front door that suggested the owners were a little ostentatious. Through the multitude of windows, Adam could see what must be some sort of party going on. Dozens of people dressed smartly were milling about with drinks in their hands.

"They might do," Helen answered evasively. "Or maybe they're just a guest. We'll have to find out once we're inside of them."

"I know what you're planning," Adam said as he began to guess his girlfriend's intentions. "You want us to find someone in that party, possess them and then we have to work out who the other one is."

"You're almost there," Helen laughed. "I wasn't planning on being that difficult. I think we should find a person we want to be separately but meet in the bathroom for a little fun."

Adam had to admit he liked the sound of that. Looking through the many windows he could already spot several attractive women he'd like to get to know better.

"Hang on," Adam said suddenly. "This place is so big there's bound to be more than one bathroom. How will I know which one you'll go to?"

"I'm sure you'll work that out," Helen replied smugly as she disappeared into the building. Adam watched as her ghostly body seeped through the wall as if it wasn't there.

"It's never easy with her," he said to himself as he followed her in, but making sure to enter through the walls of another room.

As soon as Adam was the other side of the wall he was hit by a wave of sound. Music blarred from a nearby sound system and people were almost shouting to be able to hear each other talk. The vast majority of those in the room were around Adam's age, but there were a few noticeably older. There were people dancing, chatting by the side of the room or just sipping at their drinks. Everyone looked wealthy and well presented, and Adam felt a little out of his depth. He was glad to be invisible.

'I suppose I'd better find someone to possess then,' Adam thought as he glided across the room. His eyes were drawn towards several individuals that were potential targets.

There was a few guys his age standing in a corner of the room, all well built, attractive and dressed to impress. Adam imagined Helen would be happy if he picked any of the three. But it wasn't about what Helen wanted, Adam reminded himself. He began to feel a bit mischievous and considered possessing someone Helen might not approve of. She had just cheated on him only a few hours earlier after all.

Adam spotted an older gentleman sat in an armchair to one side. He looked very out of place, but apparently relaxed enough to observe the party from a distance drinking his whisky. He had to be in his sixties, but didn't look at all bad for his age. He was wearing a light coloured shirt and dark trousers. He was fairly handsome and his grey hair only appeared to be receding slightly.

'He could do,' Adam thought, 'unless....' Several stunning women entered the room completely distracting Adam from his previous target. They were all wearing revealing cocktail dresses and looked to be having a good time. Helen didn't say anything about Adam having to possess a man after all.
