A panic ensues

Time ticks by and you've all but given up when you hear footsteps on the stairs and girlish voices speaking quietly. You peer through the gap in the curtains and see a curly haired brunette that you recognise from **** the previous night as Chanel, and a willowy blonde. Their heads are bent together as the speak, and you can't rear what they say, but their expressions and body language speak to anxiety and concern.

They enter their room, flicking on the light and shutting the door behind them. For several moments there is no further sound, and then the night is rent with panicked screams.

"Why! Oh God Why! I Did Nothing!" Chanel's piercing shrieks are distinct, though muffled by the closed door. Smiling, you prepare to make your escape, when several doors burst open to emit girls in various states of undress, all of them squealing in alarm as they run to Chanel's room. You pull back into the alcove, waiting until the coast is clear, then slipping out and running soundlessly down the stairs to the outside door. You hear the sounds of doors opening on the lower floor and raised voices shouting inquiries as you slip out the exterior door and run towards the shadows in search of concealment.

You melt into the darkness, looking back for signs of pursuit. The door opens briefly and a figure looks out into the dark for a moment before pulling back in and closing the door. You wait a moment longer, getting your breathing under control before turning away towards your cottage.
