A note from the Author
Hey, just a quick note. As I published through the 24th chapter, I was just calling each chapter 'Chapter 08'. I didn't end any chapter with a question as this was always intended to be a linear story. Hopefully others will pick up and write their own branches, but that's another whole thing. I came upon a problem though as I continued writing in that I needed to go back and re-read certain parts. Like seeing if I mentioned a character before, or if I can make a full introduction. Or checking to see if Paris and Mal have actually kissed yet. The problem is that with names like 'Chapter 08' I had no idea what was in each chapter.
So, strictly to make it easier on me to write, I went through and re-titled all the chapters to give a basic idea of what's going on. Now, with a quick glance, I can recall what was happening in each chapter and can find the details I'm looking for far quicker. I'm still going to leave the chapter numbers as the first chapter, the 'introduction' is a distinct prologue and is NOT the first chapter. I'm still playing with the idea of having more 'interludes' like that, so keeping chapter numbers is important (at least it is to me).
A quick question to the writers here. What entices you to add a chapter to a story?
When I first wrote Gamer Gurl, I thought people would pop out of the woodwork to start adding chapters, hence me always ending a chapter with a question. I've found, however, that ending each chapter with a question is a little limiting when it comes to writing the next chapter. Sometimes the next chapter barely has anything to do with the question, so that's why I'm playing in this story with not having a question at the end of the chapter. But does NOT having a question make it even harder for someone to add to the story? I mean, I honestly feel a little weird writing a single path, linear story on a site called 'Choose Your Own Adventure'. So again, what entices you to add a chapter to a story?
