Chapter 8 by crisdemos crisdemos

What's next?

A new world.

In a matter of days, your recyclers evolve even further. Soon different drones and machines begin to move around your city autonomously, invading all the places where there is pollution. Eventually the disappearance of the garbage and the improvement in the air quality is noticed, but by then nobody can do anything. The machines have invaded the city and are recycling the garbage at an alarming speed. Instead of leaving waste for anyone to use, other machines pick it up and create more machines and devices. The system has created its own multi-purpose company, which it now uses to sell its final products on the market...

Despite what governments and companies have tried, they can do absolutely nothing. The weapons haven't been able to take down or destroy any of the machines so far, and you know they never will, especially since the system is slowly taking over world telecommunications as well. He mostly lets things take their course, but that doesn't stop the chaos. Hundreds of companies are going bankrupt and closing because of the system. Its high efficiency when it comes to using resources makes it an impossible competition to fight.

One year after you started the process, your system has become the world's leading provider. Transport, distribution, objects... Even defenses. It has spread satellites and defensive platforms all over the world, oceans included. Millions of recyclers decontaminate the sea every day, to the point that endangered species are no longer in such danger, since your machines do not interfere with or contaminate the marine biosphere. As for the structures and waste that companies have left behind, everything has been recycled.

There was resistance, of course. But when protesters were constantly stunned and teleported home, and any violent action was countered peacefully with no fatalities, people were left with **** but to surrender. They could protest loudly and on social media all they wanted, but there was nothing they could do. The system could not even be accused of limiting free speech, since it allowed such protests without consequence. You knew that as much as you wanted to silence these idiots, deleting their comments would confirm their point of view, so you let them rant all they wanted. After all, it was all they had left.

You didn't get rich off this either. Your more logical and analytical mindset made you aware that the system could never be traced back to you, because that would represent a weakness. Since your first actions had gone unnoticed, by the time the system was noticed, it was autonomous enough not to need your direct physical intervention. You were always connected to it, of course, but no one knew it. The nanomachines in your blood disintegrated when necessary, so any medical scan or analysis would classify you as any other human, a fairly average one at that. So you were just another person in the crowd, and only you and the system knew the truth.

Maybe it's time to start another path?
