A new leaf

Felicia wandered into the bar, deciding to take a break from looking for Mary Jane. It's been an hour already and I haven't seen her. Maybe Peter was right to be worried.....?

Oh, calm down, Felicia. I'm sure everything's fine. It was a large and beautiful resort, so Felicia was convinced that MJ was okay.

She walked up to the dark-haired woman behind the bar. The woman flashed her a grin. "Hey, there. You looking to buy a drink?"

"Yeah. A rum and coke please."

"Got it. One rum and coke coming right up!" She started to go prepare it, but then came back for a moment. "I'm Megan, by the way." She extended her hand.

Felicia took it and shook it. "Felicia. Felicia Hardy."

"It's always nice to see a new face here at Oceanview." Megan said. She maintained that warm smile before going off to prepare Felicia's drink. "Have you been enjoying your stay here so far?"

"I've only been here about an hour so I haven't had enough time to take everything in yet." Felicia replied.

"Well, I think you'll enjoy it here." Megan returned with Felicia's drink. "So will you be paying with cash or credit? Or would you like to open a tab?"

"Actually, Megs, I'll pay for her."

Felicia was about to get her wallet when she immediately did a double take hearing that particular voice. And there she was.....Mary Jane Watson-Parker.

The first thing Felicia noticed was the friendly smile that MJ had when looking at her. Doesn't MJ really not like me?, she thought to herself. And here she is smiling at me and paying for my drink? But she quickly shrugged it off. She's probably just in a good mood today. It isn't THAT big of a deal.....

MJ pulled out some cash and handed it over to Megan. "That should be enough to cover her drink. And....I've included a generous tip."

"Awfully nice of you to pay for our new guest's drink, MJ." Megan replied in a rather playful sounding tone. So, MJ is on first-name terms with the bartender, Felicia observed. But this chick Megan seems like one of those people who is friendly to everyone. So I wouldn't necessarily say it's out of the ordinary.

"Just consider it my good deed for the day." MJ replied just as playfully. "Now," and she turned her gaze to Felicia, "why don't you and I grab a table?"

"Uh, sure. Okay." Felicia replied. She started to follow MJ before noticing something out of the corner of her eye: did MJ and Megan just wink at each other?

Felicia quickly shrugged it off. Stop getting worked up. You're letting Peter's paranoia get to you. But she couldn't help but feel that there was something else going on here.

MJ lead her to a nearby table where they both sat down. "So....", she said, that same smile on her face. "Fancy seeing you here, Black Cat."

The first thing Felicia noticed about MJ was how she was dressed. It was rather....provocative, for her. She was wearing a low cut black halter top that was showing off a fair amount of cleavage and a pair of matching yoga pants that seemed to give her ass a little extra pop.

"Now, before you get suspicious of me, MJ", Felicia explained, "I'm here on Peter's suggestion. He wanted me to check on you to see if you were okay. And also tell you he misses you."

And that was when Felicia noticed the first thing that seemed odd. MJ briefly looked away after hearing her husband's name, and noticed for the briefest of moments what seemed like pain in her eyes.

"That's sweet of him." she replied in a small voice, still not looking at her. "He's a good man, that Peter Parker."

But it was only brief, and before long she was looking at her again, smiling warmly. She probably just misses him too.

"Tell him not to worry. I'm thoroughly enjoying myself here. This is a beautiful resort. And I'm positive you'll enjoy yourself here too. You look like you could use the relaxation."

Felicia took another sip of her drink. "You didn't just come over here and pay for my drink to talk about Peter, did you? You want to talk to me about something else, don't you?"

"Well, there was something....." MJ replied, talking in an almost dreamy voice.

And that was the second thing about MJ that Felicia noticed. She was acting rather forward, almost flirty towards her. But I'm not around her that often, so maybe this is just how she usually is.

"You know, Felicia, while I've been here at Oceanview, I've been doing a lot of thinking about a lot of things. And....I think you and I never truly got off on the right foot."

Felicia was surprised. Now THIS is something I wasn't expecting. Saying they "never got off on the right foot" was a bit of an understatement.

"I think a lot of that is my fault, and for that, I'm sorry." Felicia could tell that MJ was being dead serious about this; she could hear it in her voice.

"I think you and I should have a fresh start. What's say you and I meet up for dinner tomorrow night, at around 8? I know a good bistro we can go to."

"Where is all this coming from, MJ?" Felicia asked out of genuine curiosity.

MJ smiled warmly at her. "Like I said, I've been doing a lot of thinking this week. I feel like I need to make some changes in my life, and this is one of them. I honestly think us not liking each other is silly. We're both adults, so we should act like it."

Felicia honestly felt a bit of relief. And here I thought she and I would be tearing each other to pieces. But she actually wants to mend fences. I mean, what harm could it do, really, actually having Mary Jane Watson-Parker as a friend?

"So, what do you say? Dinner tomorrow night at 8?" MJ asked expectantly.

Felicia smirked. "Alright, MJ. I'll be there." And with that, MJ was positively beaming. "Excellent! I'll see you then!" And with that, she got up, but before leaving, she said, "If you by any chance need a massage while you're here, ask for Jessica. She'll take care of you. And tell her that I sent you." And with that, MJ darted off.

Felicia downed the rest of her drink. Did that just happen? She had no idea what to expect from dinner that night, but honestly the idea having MJ as a friend instead of an enemy was rather appealing to her. Any worries she might have had were immediately washed away. I should let Peter know that everything's fine. But first, maybe I should check out this masseuse.....
