As luck would have it, Bree remained undiscovered as Mr. Weatherby walked in the opposite direction, closing the door as he did so.

Bree held her breath until she saw Mr. Weatherby turn the corner and head towards the other end of the school.

“Phew, I thought for sure the jig was up, and I haven’t even put the shoes on yet.” Bree sighed. Her sneakers were loose enough that she could easily slip them on without untying them.
