A letter

A few days passed by and despite the heavy heart, you begin to go through your father's personal belongings. You smile when you found the fountain pen that you gifted him for his 10 year's anniversary working at his company. Your father was never a fountain pen person, eschewing form in favor of function; he liked using cheap ballpoint and roller balls pens.

A further digging through seea you come across the insurance documents, with some registered under your name and a few other under Rumi's. It seemed that being a meticulous man that he was, your father ensured that the both of you will be covered in case anything happened to him.

A few more rummage and you come across a letter personally addressed to you.

The letter begins by telling that your father has been grateful for having you as his son. He admitted that he has been ignoring you and your mother while pursuing his career to the extent that he wasn't around when your mother passed away. When your mother passed away, your father told himself that he had to change his way of life which is why he searched for your mother's replacement.

It was then he met Rumi during a mixer. While she was, in his opinion, a good woman, the reason he married her was not due to love or something but rather because he wanted you to have a mother.

You're a bit skeptical since the man did enjoy himself with her body almost every night but you suppose that's his way of trying to put a noble cause to him marrying her.

There are some more details in the letter but the last paragraph catches your attention. It's a request for you to take care of Rumi.
