What happens on the wedding night?
A huge Festival
The Wedding celebrations came as a huge surprise to Nathan. Given how violent and tense the morning's activities had been, he was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the village was able to come together and celebrate the new nuptials. A 1,200 lb boar was slaughter and cooked over and open fire at the center of the festivities. The whole village seemed to turn up for the ceremony in the Village square. Even to Nathan's surprise, Amrynn whose arm was in a sling but seemed to be in a docile mood.
Effie's grandmother had given him a quick summary of the ceremony. Nathan had tossed on the male ceremonious attire over his clothes. He had to wear a long blue coat that nearly reached down to his ankles, with a large golden emblem sewn on his chest. Effie wore a revealing green dress with a plunging neckline that revealed both her cleavage and naval. Effie's grandmother had explained to Nathan that his outfit represented the sky and the gold emblem symbolized the sun while Effie's dress symbolized the forest. The two stood opposite each other as a village elder read from an ancient wood elf tome. The elder explained that Nathan would watch over Effie as the sky watched over the forest. He also explained that as the sun provides for the trees so too would Nathan always provide for Effie. Finally the time came for the husband to place his family's necklace around his wife, welcoming her into his tribe. These necklaces were meant to be elaborately wood carved pendants that bore the symbol of a man's family (A crescent moon, a raindrop, etc.). Not being a wood elf,Nathan of course did not posses such a thing. He did however have a pair of dog tags he was allowed to improvise with. Just off to the side of the groom stood the old wizard, standing in as Nathan's witness and dressed up in a white robe decorated in archaic symbols only a fellow mage would appreciate. When the time came the wizard handed Nathan the dog tags at which point Effie bowed to her new husband as he placed his tags around her neck.
The crowd cheered and the festivities kicked into full gear as the couple graciously waved to the crowd throwing bundles of wild flower peddles into the wind. Spirits were high as the night went on, People ate, the men kept Nathan's chalice full of a sweet but strong ****, Effie received gifts from the women, and the band played as the old wizard failed to convince any of the attractive young elf ladies to dance with him. Finally as the party dispersed, Effie led a slightly **** Nathan by the arm into a small wooden hut on the outskirts of the village.
The hut was a single room and completely empty save for a large bed and vase full of glowing flowers that illuminated the space. Effie had explained the flowers were called flame lilies, they were flowers the elves left out in the sun during the day to absorb sunlight and in the night the flowers would glow bright enough to light their homes.
"Whose house are we in?" Nathan asked only slightly slurring his words.
Effie giggled. "This is no house, it's called a first night hovel."
" A first kite hubble?" Nathan asked confused.
" It is a private room for a newlywed bride and groom to spend their first night together away from their families homes should they not have finished building their own home yet." She explained. " It is where they are to begin...procreating." Her voice trailed off at the end.
"Oh." Nathan thought for a moment. " Look I know you just married me in the moment to save my ass from an execution...I could never thank you enough for that but I really don't expect you to do anything you don't want to while we're alone."
What's Effie's response?
