They rode on for a while. Eventually, the heroic knight noticed they were passing what appeared to be a temporary-housing establishment. He also noticed that, whether it was occupied at all or not, all the rooms apart from the foyer appeared to be empty. This didn't surprise him, due to the lateness of the time.

What surprised him far more was the maiden he had rescued pulling back with the hands she'd wrapped around his waist. He followed suit on the horse's reigns, and the horse stopped a few feet later.

"What?!" he asked her, trying not to sound like he had switched dramatically from savior to sourpuss.

"I just think we should see if there is a vacancy there!" she said, pointing to the development.

"But it makes far more sense to continue on, and get as far as we can from our defeated enemies!" he explained to her.

"Exactly!" she shouted back, before leaning forward, which he noticed pressed her chest against his back. "They shall expect that, and attempt to catch up to us. If they fail, or they surpass us, I remain safe either way."
