Chapter 7

How does Matt wake up?
A hero
Matt woke up in an ambulance, where they were just beginning to check his vitals. He let them, and was soon cleared. He felt groggy and heavier. He had heard the girl was alive and headed to the hospital in stable condition. This made him happy. Matt gave several handshakes and waves in his daze before his mom finally arrived and drove him home. Matt slept the rest of the day, too tired to think of the repercussions of what he had done.
Later he found out that he was something of a local hero now, having saved a congressman's daughter (from his first marriage) whom he had already shaken hands with. Her name was Jessica Groud and she was a local college student and very pretty. She had survived and seemed to have died only briefly before CPR was administrated, but having been revived by it. Her injuries only kept her in the hospital for a few days, healing in record time. The whole story was a tale of rescue and a brush with **** prevented by pro-active lifeguards, a slam dunk for Matt.
But he felt hollower. He could still feel the light burning inside him, however he usually would have seen his little guardian angel by now. Eventually he was sent back to work and life got back to normal. The lure of the power that burned in him seemed to have gone, he felt snuffed since he had saved that girl. Whatever extra it took, whatever his angel was scared of, it seemed to have happened. He didn't have the energy to try to use his hero status to help him get into college, he just wanted his checks and to go to sleep. Despite that, he still felt a rigid sense of duty supported by his inner angelic power, that at least kept being a lifeguard fulfilling.
That was at least until he saw Jessica again.
Where does he see Jessica?
