A girls night out

"Jason?" she said. "Do you have any plan for Halloween?"

"Nothing in particular. Why, you have something in mind?"

"I was thinking that maybe you, I and Margaux should celebrate together. I know just the place where we should go."

Since you don't have anything better to do, you quickly agree. "All right." you say. "Let me just ask Margaux and then..."

"Actually, I was thinking that since it's Halloween, and Halloween is all about pretending to be something else, perhaps you could come as Jess."

You half-expected her to suggest something like that, so you are not surprised. You aren't opposed to the idea either: it's been a while since you've been Jess, and using the ring just this time can't do much damage; besides, you honestly miss being her, and if it's just for a couple of hours, you don't see why you shouldn't, just this once. There is, however, one big problem.

"What would we say to Margaux?" you ask.

"I'll just introduce you as Jason's cousin and say he's gone back home for a couple of days. You haven't gone home for a while, it should be credible enough, just remember to mention it to her, so she won't be suspicious."

"You have really planned for everything, haven't you?" you say, but you are not entirely convinced. "I don't know, I don't like lying to her."

"Well, what else can you do?"

"I could always tell her the truth."

Amy is clearly surprised. "You mean tell her about the rings?" she incredulously says. "You can't do that."

"And why not? What could possibly happen?"

"Well, who knows how she would react to something like that!"

"That's true, it would be surprising, to put it mildly."

"Anyway, it's your choice. I won't interfere with your decision, whatever it may be."
