Chapter 67 by yuri yuri

The city is being infected, who among the horde do we follow? (A great place to add branches!)

A fitness trainer starting his day

David turned off his alarm clock and the first thing he noticed after waking up was that his fiancée Mia was not on the bed with him. After rubbing his eyes, he immediately found her sleeping on her desk surrounded by books after she pulled another all nighter. Mia was a law student and finding her like this was not a strange occurrence for David, she was a dedicated student filled with determination to fulfil her dream of becoming a lawyer. Her conviction and drive were just one of the things he loved about her. Not wanting to wake her up so early in the morning, he gently carried her back to the bed and put a blanket over her so she could rest.

After taking a shower he groomed himself in front of the mirror. He never really cared about stuff like his hair before starting his job as a personal trainer but, as he quickly realized on his first days, muscles weren't everything in this profession, so despite being quite fit already he had to learn to improve his personal appearance and how he presented himself. He couldn't argue with the results though, his handsome looks combined with his friendliness made him quite popular in the gym with both genders. During his first couple of weeks, some girls, and even some guys, tried to flirt with him but they quickly gave up after they realized he was completely devoted to Mia.

"Goodbye love, I'll see you this afternoon." He kissed the still sleeping Mia goodbye who's only answer was a cute snore that warmed his heart, he grabbed his bike and went to the gym. He worked at a large gym that was part of a national chain, the pay was good, the benefits were great and it was located near his place so it was the perfect job for him. While he was heading towards the gym, he found it strange how the streets were not as busy as usual. It was very early but he usually saw more cars in the street and a couple earlier morning runners, but he didn't pay much attention to this.

He parked his bike outside the gym and opened the door with his badge. In front of the main entrance was a large, immaculately clean receptionist desk and behind it sat a pretty, young, brunette woman who was yawning while drinking a large cup of coffee. "Good morning, Victoria!" David said hi a little louder than necessary to help her wake up.

"Oh god! Not now David. Early morning shift is the worst! How can you wake up this early every day?" The woman rubbed her eyes and took another sip of her coffee.

"I've been doing it since High School, but you do look crankier than usual, could it be that you went out despite having a work day? And when you have early morning shift of all days?” David asked her as he walked towards the staff room behind her desk and clocked himself in.

"Don't remind me, we celebrated my friend's birthday last night and I was the only one who left early because I couldn't find anyone to cover for me here. But at least things are pretty quiet this morning, however you do have a client scheduled on your first time slot so you should prepare yourself." Answered Victoria reviewing the scheduled despite her drowsiness.

"Thanks Vicky, and here, this energy bar might help you stay awake." David waved goodbye and left a wrapped energy bar on Victoria's desk before moving to the free weight area.
