A fighting chance

Harlan continued walking through the hallway following the map’s instructions.

At least until he heard booming footsteps coming his way.

And before he knew it, he was being held roughly by his lab coat and what felt like wet tears over his suit jacket.

Looking down, there was a woman with her face on his chest crying and looking up.

“Pl.. please help us... there’s a mon... Harlan?”

The woman despite her tears saw the object of her affection she was looking for.

Rebecca found her crush at last!

Just as Harlan was able to recognize the woman holding him, he saw two other women running close by towards them.

They were terrified and tired looking.

Jessica and Allie both stopped when they saw Rebecca holding him.

“Becca... stay away from him... he.. he might be a fake too!”

Raising his eyebrow, he claimed he was real and introduced himself which surprised the other women and then asked what happened.

Unfortunately, before they could answer. Something shambling slow was coming up from the basement.

It was hideously grotesque.

It was slightly taller then Harlan and was dressed in some kind of garbage bag like toga with thorns around it.

It had grey skin with peeling flesh across its body.

The hair on the monster had been close to bald but with bits of blonde hair left over while the eyes were covered by some kind of rag blindfold and it’s mouth was slightly open with the teeth showing and was constantly groaning.

The finger nails on the monster however had slightly sharp looking black claws.

It looked disgusting to see.

The women all looked afraid while Harlan tried to understand what he was seeing.

Rebecca shook hard and tried to pull him away.

“Harlan, we need to get out of here before he gets us. Please!!”

He looked at the monster and carefully stepped back with the girls as the creature was slowly moving and suddenly took a running shot as it knocked Harlan aside while it continued after the girls.

Harlan crashed into the side of a glass cabinet but luckily wasn’t hurt drastically despite broken glass on the floor although his lantern was knocked across the hallway.

As he tried getting up, he saw the creature grab Rebecca roughly.

She was crying and begging for help while her friends were frozen in fear.

Without choice; Harlan took a big piece of glass and quickly grappled behind it causing Rebecca to get out of its grip.

The thing was strong but luckily Harlan used the glass shard to stab one of its eyes.

“GRAHHH!!”

The creature shoved Harlan off as it took out the shard causing the rag it had on to rip and fall off.

The creature had no eyes yet turned to Harlan in an angry sort of growl.
