A divine meeting

Bryan staggered, feeling a strong sense of vertigo from the swirling light that surrounded him. A figure crystallized out of the light, no dimmer than his surroundings but clear and sharp amid the flowing light. It was a woman, beyond beautiful, her features seeming to shift like the shadows of leaves in the forest. She would be severe-looking and tall one moment, kind and curvaceous the next, and petite and innocent an instant later.

"...Vienna?"

"Hello my servant, why have you prayed to me?" Her voice sounded like a chorus of women yet was no louder than a whisper in the blindingly bright space.

"...um. Your humble servant apologizes, your uh... divinity, but I seem to have been struck by a memory-affecting spell. Would you be so kind as to enlighten me to my purpose in this land?" Bryan was shocked with how well the words slipped from his tongue. He was honestly amazed he wasn't utterly speechless, considering he was standing in a void of light, speaking to a literal goddess.

She smiled, the expression truly blinding, and Bryan breathed a sigh of relief that he'd said the right thing. Her figure settled on a curvy but athletic form as she stepped down onto whatever invisible ground he was standing on, "Oh Galden, you needn't be so formal..." The figure swept forward, circling him like living light, winding feminine arms around his chest in a very familiar embrace, "Or has your 'memory' failed you in other ways as well?" Woah boy.

"Ahm... milady, I apologize, I was being serious."

"...what?"

"I do not remember why I'm here, I'm requesting guidance."

"Oh."

"I don't mean to disappoint you, you are beyond lovely and I would very much like to remember all that we were but-"

"No, no. It's... fine." The goddess seemed rather put out and Bryan mentally kicked himself for not going with the flow as she receded back into her amorphous form. Literally could've made out with a goddess just then. The fuck is wrong with me.

The goddess cleared her throat, her voice dropping the seductive tone and gaining the booming quality one might expect from a deity, "I sent you to purge the land of the evil that calls itself The Corruption," Creative. "and its servants. You and your companions are bound for Darkspire mountain, far in the East, to cleanse The Corruption at its source."

"I see. Thank you, my goddess-" "Vienna, please." "-ahem, alright: Thank you Vienna."

"Let me know if any of your memories start to return, dear knight. We have much to... discuss."

Bryan stumbled, suddenly standing back on the road, his companions gathered around him worriedly."...what?"

"Oh good, you're back. We were worried you'd like short-circuited or something. You've been staring into space for like five minutes." Nubia waved a finger in front of his face, checking his eye tracking.

"I met with my goddess. Yes Rad, she was hot. She told me that we're here to purge something in the East called 'The Corruption'." You hadn't noticed it in the goddess' realm but the sound of distant thunder accompanied the words.

"The Corruption." Rumble, "Huh. Neat."

"Always in East." Conrad muttered, looking like he wanted to elaborate but couldn't find the words to do so. "Good goddess hot." The two exchanged a fist bump.

Wanda held a hand to her temple, seemingly trying to ignore the two boys, "What, so we just start walking down the road until we find The Corruption," Rumble, "destroy it and then we can leave the game?"

"Well... yeah, I guess we do."
