A dinner party filled with tension

At 7pm on the dot the doorbell rings, "this fucker is only ever punctual when it's not work related" Jason thinks as he goes to answer the door, "Ray, good to see you" Jason lies as he answers the door, Lily comes from the kitchen to greet Ray as well. "Wow you look incredible Lily" Ray says ignoring Jason and looking past him to his wife, "thank you Ray. Just make yourself comfortable in the living room I'll call when food is ready" she says before retreating back to the kitchen. As Jason shuts the door he sees Ray's gaze firmly locked on his wife's ass as she leaves, he knew this dress was a bad idea now he was going to have to put up with his boss ogling his wife.

Jason and Ray go into the living room and Ray begins talking about work mostly just asking Jason whether he did what was required of him this week, Jason had done all these things in addition to cleaning up Ray's mess and typical of Ray once he told him he had Ray just nodded and moved on not even offering a thank you. Once the work chat is done and Jason's blood was boiling, Ray leans in to Jason "your wife is a real catch, how did you land her?" Rays whispers chuckling to himself "with a body like that if she wants a job I could use a secretary, she'd look so good on top of my desk" he says with a big cocky smirk. That was it, Jason couldn't take any more of this guy, he was barely keeping his cool during the work talk and hearing him talk about his wife like that made him snap, Jason's veins bulged at his neck and his fists clenched till his knuckles were white. Jason was about to cock back a punch that he would plant firmly into Ray's jaw, when Lily pops her head round the doorway into the living room "dinner is served guys" she says sweetly, her presence deterring Jason from swinging at his boss. "That's fantastic" Ray says unaware of how close he was to getting decked, he looks back to Jason "you ok Jason? you look tense" Ray says patting Jason on the shoulder; it took all of Jason's restraint to not rag his bosses hand off of him. Lily notices Jason's demeanour "you do look tense baby, what's up?" "Nothing is up I just need to use the bathroom I will be back soon" Jason says excusing himself.

Jason goes upstairs towards the bathroom but diverts off into his and Lily's bedroom, he grabs a pillow and let's out his frustrations with a loud scream into to soft fabric, once Jason has screamed his anger down to a manageable level he heads down to join Lily and Ray.

Jason joins them at the table and begins eating, "great as always baby" Jason says enjoying his wife's cooking, the carbonara was exquisite perfectly peppery and ultra rich. "So Ray, how come you don't have a partner?" Lily asks curious as to why Ray didn't have a partner he seemed like a charming guy and well he was high up in his career, it just seemed odd, Ray pauses for a second considering his words "well I guess I just haven't found a woman who can handle me yet" he says with a cocky smirk looking Lily straight in the eyes almost as a challenge. "Yeah can't handle that you're an asshole" Jason thinks to himself, the conversation had been pretty much between Lily and Ray with minimal input from Jason, but Jason figured this was for the best as Jason still had a lot of anger at Ray and given that Ray hadn't let the mask slip about who he was yet he knew he would look like the asshole if he lost his cool. Jason eats his dinner focusing on what him and Lily would do once Ray left, "let's just get through dinner then this fucker can leave" Jason thinks as he eats.
