Chapter 174 by AwesomePossum AwesomePossum

“Excuse me, sir.” Vi says politely, knocking on one of the senior agents' open office doors. “I’m just doing the rounds, did you need any admin work done?”

The middle-aged, chubby man looks up and shakes his head. “No. Thank you. I thought you were working for Jeremy?”

She nods. “I was. But we came to an agreement that I would get more worthwhile experience floating around the office.”

He nods. “Well. I respect your gumption. I’ll keep you in mind if I need anything in the future.”

Vi smiles, nodding. “Thank you! That’s all I can ask for!” She pulls her head back and sighs.

“Hi ma’am!” Vi says, slowly opening the office door, a woman in her late 20s who had called her in after hearing her knock. “I’m just doing some rounds seeing if anyone needs some admin or grunt work done.”

She shakes her head. “Sorry darling. Nothing for you again this week.” She chuckles politely. “Have you had any luck elsewhere?”

Vi shakes her head. “I have not, Maria. It sucks.”

Maria chuckles again. “I’m very sorry to hear that. Your resilience to keep pushing is very admirable. If you decide to leave here, I’m more than happy to be a reference for you, I know how frustrating this is.”

“Thank you, Maria. That’s very kind!”

“Heeeeeey, please tell me you have work for me.” Vi groans, throwing her bag on the floor inside Taro’s small office.

He exhales heavily. “Wanna draft some emails?”

“It’s either that or jump off the roof, so yes.” Vi responds, sitting on the opposite side of his desk, opening his laptop.

As Vi typed away, casually munching on an apple, Taro had glanced up and taken a good look at her, more specifically, her attire.

Vi was essentially akin to a pot plant in this office, none of the other staff or senior agents and associates needed any sort of help, all of them incredibly individualistic and way too micro-managing to ever accept any help from anyone, much less a current university student. Taro was a little different, keeping the difficult work to himself, but able to recognise the value of having someone do the repetitive grunt work.

But as a result, Vi ended up spending most of her days in here. And over time, she has begun to dress just that bit more casually. Enough that no one could call her out on it, a mixture of not caring about the uni student floating around and too much focus on their own work to even notice.

She couldn’t come in workout gear or home gear, that was probably a step too far. But the pencil skirts were gone, the tight suit pants, gone, collared shirts, gone, blazers, gone. Today, she’s wearing a comfy cotton black-and-white striped long skirt bottom, somehow still sexy, which Taro chalks up to the woman wearing it rather than the clothes themselves. And a short-sleeve simple black top… That she once again still manages to make look sexy.

Taro studied her arms and the way the clothes clung to her body. Taro knows she was hot from the start, everyone knows, it’s undeniable, but he feels… Drawn to her recently, more than just her looks. He’s fearful that he’s developing a real crush.

“Hey Taro, the email you wanted me to draft.” She asks, picking up her laptop and walking it around to his side of the desk. “Does that read alright? Is that the right address? My system won’t load.”

Taro reads through the brief, but his eyes are drawn to his side, Vi rereading it with him, he can’t help but stare at the way her breasts round underneath the top, inching back he feels himself getting warm as he stares at the way her ass pokes out through the dress, her sensual silhouette sending chills through his arms.

“Taro?” She asks, looking at him, he quickly snaps his head back forward.

“Sorry… Stretching.” He mutters nervously, overcompensating and bending forward to get closer to the screen.

Vi smirks as his face goes a light shade of red.

The sun sets out the window across the hall, in these winter months, it’s only about 5:00 pm, Taro closes his laptop and puts his head on the table.

“You alright there?” Vi asks with a laugh, closing her own laptop.

“That was a crappy day.” He responds, sitting back up.

“Rude.” She says, sticking her tongue out, sending a small shock into Taro’s heart at her abject cuteness.

“You were the bright point.” He says, chuckling. “Hey, you want to get some dinner? I know a good Korean fried chicken place.”

Vi thinks for a moment. She had made plans to hang out with Ari… But she’s sure she won’t mind, she likes hanging out with Taro, and maybe it’ll be fun to hang out with him outside of the work setting.

“Sure. Can I leave my laptop in your office? I’m sick of taking it home.”

He nods.

“This. Is. Fucking. Delicious.” Vi says, her pupils going wide as she nibbles into the chicken. “The crust is insane.”

Taro nods with a grin. “It’s the best. I can’t believe they haven’t blown up.”

Vi looks around the somewhat empty restaurant, cocking her eyebrow. “Part of me is glad because we get special service, but they fully deserve more business.”

Taro nods in agreement.

“Taro, do you work out?” Vi asks, fluttering her eyelashes, completely aware of what she’s doing. She points at his forearm. “It sure looks like you do.”

Taro chuckles, already blushing. “I do sometimes… After work usually, not as much as I’d like to.”

Vi lifts her drink, nibbling on the straw as she gives him an appreciative once-over. “I’d love to see what you look like when you go often.”

Taro’s tongue goes over the front of his teeth, a grin crossing his face. “Same goes for you, Vi.” He nods at her exposed arms.

“Thank you. You’ve seen some of my modelling. You know I gotta keep the merchandise pristine.”

“And pristine it is,” Taro responds, holding his drink up.

Vi smiles sultrily, sucking on her straw.

Taro watches, entranced as Vi stands on the small stage in the intimate karaoke booth, it doesn’t even matter what she’s singing, she looks phenomenal, her body moving on autopilot, her hips swaying side to side, her eyes closed, her face slightly flushed from drinking.

Taro regrets suggesting drinks, he’s driving after all, sure, he’s going to offer her a ride home, but he feels like he screwed himself over. He’s not going to take advantage of a drunk girl after all.

Even when she stares at him with those lidded ‘fuck me’ eyes.

She finishes her song and giggling she walks over to him, stumbling, she sits down half on his thigh, before moving over and passing him the mic. “Your turn!!!”

She grins at him, pressing a hand on his chest, feeling the tone in his muscles.

“Your what?” He asks, watching as she finishes off yet another drink, confused.

“Hmm? My boyfriend. He’s close, he’s picking me up.”

Vi feels a sense of guilt when she sees the confusion etched on Taro’s face. Had she really forgotten to mention Erik? She’s sure she had, she wouldn’t pretend to be single. It has to be Taro having forgotten, there’s no way she would have forgotten to mention him… Right?

Taro, still being a gentleman, allows Vi to put an arm around him as he helps her out of the bar onto the pavement, walking towards Erik’s car. It didn’t mauch convinving for Taro, who despite his confusion, wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity for some innocent touching.

“Hey man!” Erik says, slinging Vi’s arm over his shoulders. “Thanks for looking after her, she’s a lightweight in denial.”

Vi groans and shakes her head, reaching out for Taro, she pulls him close and hugs him, intentionally pressing her breasts into him. “Myyyyyyy hero!” She slurs, before turning to Erik and kissing him on the lips forcefully. “Myyyyyyy other hero!”

“Yeah, yeah.” Erik says, laughing, helping her into the passenger seat. He turns and holds a hand out to Taro. “Thanks man, I’ve heard a lot about you, thanks for keeping her company.”

Taro shakes his hand, “Yeah… You too. Mentioned, I mean.”

Erik smiles and gets back into his car, peeling off and leaving Taro confused on the sidewalk.

“How’d you like my performance?” Vi says, unbuckling her seatbelt and reaching for his belt.

“Hot as fuck. For a second I thought you were going to kiss him.”

“Nah, that comes later.” She teases with a wink, unzipping him and lowering her head as Erik merges onto the empty highway.

He knows she’s just kidding, but the inkling of a dark storm cloud starts to form in his psyche.
