In the original univers the food is incredibly gross and moves by its self. In this universe it's not the most apatising thing in the world but it's regular food. As you look closer, you can tell Hatchet put alot of work with the cheap ingredients he had. It's hard to swallow but you eat every bite not wanting the hard work to go to waste.

He smiles. "You have respect and good eyes. I think I can work with that. I got an offer your not going to refuse. Let me take you under my wings. I'll train you into a good solider that will win every challenge and I'll even give you an unfair advantage. You just need to do 2 things for me. 1. You don't tell anyone about this alliance. 2. You split the money with me, 50/50."
