A call for help

Sunrises, it was a beautiful one; one left underappreciated as Moon, Preston, Sturges, and Reginald grogolly walked out of the makeshift meeting place they used to discuss what the Minutemen policy would be. A sleepless night of arguing had conceived that Codworth would defend Abernathy Farm, while Reginald helped build defensives; Preston would defend the settlement as Hound and Moon would search for help. Corvega Assembly Plant had been brutal, and Moon had ignored the beeping light that indicated a new radio signal. She hardly took a second though before now; being a bullet sponge was certainly a tiring job. However a frequency that wasn’t a radio channel, certainly had a higher chance of finding helpful life. Moon had to clear out Corvega Assembly again, and it seems like the former survivors regrouped from her first raid on the place. Moon scoured the place trying to pick up the signal; all the while clearing out the remaining raiders that rambled into her gun line. It was clear that these raiders hadn’t recovered from the earlier raid. An hour of walking about the place proved fruitful as she picked up Military frequency AF95. A distress call by a person identifying herself as Scribe Haylen, confirmed their group to be at Cambridge. More importantly to Moon anyways; she should probably bring some guns.

Moon and Hound made their way to Cambridge taking the highway. It didn’t take them long before they stumbled onto College Square, where ghouls loomed about. Moon, feeling a bit more confident due to being more prepared; she ran through the area towards the sound of gun fire. Explosions from prelaid mines had drawn what ghouls, sleeping within the crevices of the bomb-shelled town, out of where they were hiding. An oversight that might cause trouble as she was heading to a gunfight, leading a hoard to possible allies.

Moon weaved between the ghouls that stood in her way; she bolted past them to reach Cambridge Police Station, where she saw a sight she could hardly believe. A man in well kept power armor and a laser rifle, more advanced than the musket that Garvey carried, he was defending his position from the ghouls. Moon did not let the sight consume her as she pointed her pistol at a ghoul lunging itself at the bulky ironclad man; finding her mark, a swift execution of the ghoul. The power armored man gawked at where the bullet came from, assessing the situation then turning to where the bullet landed. Second ticked by as Moon made her way towards the group; cautiously as the men continued to lay fire on the ghouls. Moon laid lead into any creature that grew too close to two lightly armored combatants, one of which was wounded. The horde of ghouls that had followed Moonl, swarmed the area. It was all hands on deck as all four laid fire, the man in the power armor attracted the most attention of the ghouls as he was in the front. Hound bit a ghoul on the leg, pinning him down before it could reach the wounded man; the person near him finished it off.

Though the number could have broken them; eventually the ghouls were felled. “Feels like we took on all the ghouls within the town.” Said the person lying on the ground. The man in the power armor turned to Moon once he was certain the coast was clear. “We appreciate the assistance civilian, but what business do you have here?” “Trying to survive, just like everyone else.” Which wasn’t exactly a lie from Moon, though the person she spoke to trained his eyes on her; hardly taking her at her word given her recent display. Sure her marksmanship was sloopy, however most wastelander would have easily broken when that last wave of ghouls made it past a man in full metal armor. “The way you charged in here as you did; I find that hard to believe. Are you from a local settlement?” Moon was about to spout some random area, not hopping to expose her home to a possible enemy of which she had yet to determined, though the strong glare; one that was firm yet felt fair, a glare of both confidence and I don’t take bullshit, something about that glare made her rethink that. “Vault 111” A quick glint of shock came from the man, “You're a Vault Dweller? I’m sorry, you rarely hear people admit to such a thing. Where I come from it really paints a target on you. Again excuse me for the lack of trust or formality, our current assignment has been nothing but trouble ever since we stepped into the Commonwealth. Given our circumstances we could use the extra gun.” “No, we shouldn't rely on a merc to aid us.” The man on the ground weakly spouted through the pain that his current wounds were inflicted on him. “First off, before I help you, who are you and what is your intention here. You are too well armored to be just some raggedy band of ruffians.” “Very well, where are my formalities, I’m Paladin Danse Brotherhood of Steel; over there is scribe Haylen and Knight Rhys,” As he distinctly identified the two apart, the female attending to the injured man was Haylen, leaving the man on the ground to be Rhys “We on a recon mission, but I’m down a man and our supplies are low; I’ve been trying to to send a distress call to my superiors, but the signal is too weak to reach them.” “Sir if I may interject?” “Permission grant Scribe Haylen.”

“We currently have the structure to access long range communication; however we are missing one key item, a deep range transmitter.” “Our only solution now is to search the nearby building in hopes of finding such a transmitter. Cambridge Polymer Labs, Relay Tower 1DL-109, and Arcjet Systems are the only places within our immediate area that we have some confidence that our target objective could be at.” Moon looked a little puzzled, there was something she could vaguely remember that could help narrow things down, “Um… I do believe Cambridge was a weapons and armor development firm, deep range transmitters weren’t their specialty..” “And how would a civilian know that?” A gaze of suspicion was heaped onto Moon by the three. “Um… my… Hus… I mean, my friend told me.” Danse spoke no words though his rifle slowly was being raised to the armed position. “A pre-war friend told me.” “Your friends with a filthy ghoul.” “Yes he used to work there; and I have it on good authority tha Cambridge Polymer Labs is not a viable target.” “Sir we can’t trust this wastelander; she is probably lying and wants to keep the tech all to herself.” “Can it soldier, so it seems we will be targeting Arcjet Systems first; and check Polymer Labs last.” “Arcjet? What about the Relay Station, wouldn’t that have a deep range transmitter?” “I hardly trust the effectiveness of a transmitter exposed to the elements of hundreds of years; if we can find a new or intact transmitter in Arcjet, well that should do.” Danse’s rifle slowly returned to his side. “Any help would be appreciated.” “You are the Brotherhood of Steel. What are you?” Danse made a quick glance to his team checking to see how they were holding up. Haylen had stemmed the bleeding for Rhys. “The Brotherhood of Steel, we are an organization dedicated to learn the secrets of our forefathers and then keep that power, gained from such secrets, out of those who would **** it.” “A noble cause.” Danse found himself once more surprised, if only showing it for a mere moment. “Refreshing to hear. Few outside the Brotherhood understand the severity of what stands on humanity's door-step.” “So Arcjet?” “Right, Scribe Haylen, get Knight Rhys inside; Knight Rhys once you're able, I need you on perimeter patrol.” “Roger” Rhys spoke as Haylen helped him up. “And you head into -” “No need, ready to get this mission done. Hound stay here and protect those two.” “Like a dog is going to help our situation.” Rhys snidely quipped. “Dose temporarily losing Danse, help either?” Rhys glared at the stranger, shutting his mouth not because he was out of comments, rather the discontent stare that came with Danse. “Alright Civy, we're doing this by the book. I don’t want you shooting at me, and your going to have to keep up with me.”
