A birthday “present” from her father

Jaime was in her room doing her hair one afternoon when a knock is heard at her door. “Come in~!” Her petite voice said in her family’s native tongue. She turned to see none other than her father opening the door with a large smile (a rare sight) across his face

“Jaime! Good news. I have found you a husband who is paying handsomely for your hand in marriage. You’ll be meeting him tonight to prepare for the wedding.” Says her father so matter-o-factly. His sudden information dump and her disbelief caught Jaime off guard.

“Father.. don’t I have to meet him before I agree to marriage?” She looked a little upset but remained respectful as could be, trying not to be argumentative

“Agree? What do you need to decide. It’s a man who’s paying us a lot of money after I showed him your photo.” Her father says, basically repeating himself from before

Jaime was a little more upset now “Father, don’t I get a say on who I marry?! What if he’s an ugly creep!” She raised her voice, something reserved for only the most disobedient conversations with her parents

“It doesn’t matter his appearance. Now get ready, you’ll meet your new fiancé tonight.” Jaime’s father says before stepping out of her room, leaving the petite Asian girl to stew in anger and disbelief.
