A Wandering Mind

The sun had gone down now. And Issa had returned outside, by herself. Azurite saw her attempting to scan the rooftops, looking for him.

"What is she mad at me for this time?" The watchman wondered to himself. He watched as Issa huffed slightly, before dipping into a dark alley. An impatient look spread across her face as she waited.

She didn't see him, of course. Even as he dropped to the floor behind the snooty elf. So he spoke, and like a startled cat, Issa jumped.

"What do you want?" He asked bluntly.

"It is very comfortable inside. And warm" She steered into the shadows.

"You should know how I feel about being confined to a box by now" He answered, paying no appreciation to her veiled invite.

"So you do not want this then?" She scoffed, presenting a room key.

"Not particularly" He remarked, once again momentarily stunning the Elf.

"Fine! Last time I ever try to be friendly" She exclaimed, throwing her hands into the air she she stormed away.

Azurite retreated back to his rooftop vantage. He was aware they'd only hired 3 rooms. Essa and Epona both threw open their windows upon entry, Issa had dumped her pack in a third, and the neighbouring rooms on either side were occupied.

Was Issa inviting him to share her bed? His mind drifted to the image of her pleasuring herself by the tree.

No, no that was ridiculous. She only harboured distaste toward him, why would she share her bed with him, wilfully?

Movement caught his eye. Issa's window had opened. He could see straight into her room. The Elf was standing perfectly aligned with the window, muttering to herself and she began yo undress.

Azurite averted his eyes. It must be a trap. A ploy to regain her "power" over him. She wanted him to watch.

Or did she? There were other ways to gain the upper hand in their power dynamic and he knew that.

Azurite lost himself to thought. He was unsure how long had passed before he looked back. Issa was seated in the steaming water facing the window. Everything but her head and shoulders were completely submerged.

The Genasi man closed his eyes. Why did his brain default to sharing Issa's bed?
