A Visit to Joanie
"Hey sweetie!" Carrie said. She had Jack and Cathy in their strollers, so you could meet your new siblings. Cathy reminded you of Sam. Jack reminded you a lot of your dad. Carrie held Jack in her arms when he got fussy, finally tugging out a big, milk-laden tit and let him start feeding. You stared.
"What? Nothing you haven't seen before," Carrie teased.
"Did you ever think we'd have had a kid if I hadn't asked you to start seeing my dad?" Carrie thought for a moment."
"Yes and no. Yes in the sense you were ... and are ... a great partner in the sense of being caring and attentive. No in the physical sense. You're wired to be a girl. And frankly, your seed just isn't strong enough. If we'd have had kids ... they'd have probably been black." You squirmed a little. For you, hard truths were the best truths. Carrie wrinkled her nose.
"C'mon, let's go change Cathy."
"Yes, Mother."
