Chapter 6 by merkros merkros

What's next?

A Surprise visit from Natalie

You are vaguely aware of the door opening and closing and a few minutes later a female voice says, "Hey John, mind if i take player 2?"

Turning, you see Natalie standing in the doorway of your living room. Ever since you and her became good friends, your mother has pretty much adopted her as a member of the family. She was given a key to the house and an open invitation for any time. Dressed in clothes that are far more reminiscent of what she would normally wear: Blue Jeans and a shirt that exposes her shoulders and neck; she eyes you sheepishly almost as if she's afraid that you would reject her.

"Sure, Go ahead" You had her the controller.

Her expression brightens, "Before you ask, it's Natalie when we're not in school." she hops onto the sofa next to you and takes control of your opponent. It feels almost like old times. "I heard you got into a fight with your girlfriend."

"Well, sort of." You shrug, "How'd you find out"

She turns to look at you, "well, you were right outside my classroom and I saw her name on my list and recall you mentioning her once in one of our phone conversations. Sorry for not talking to you personally sooner. I've been a bit rushed for time and only really got in a few days ago and needless to say it's been a busy few days. I did tell your mom...I guess she wanted it to be a surprise."

That does sound like her, you think. "So how was college?"

"It was...an adventure. That's for sure." she shrugs, "I heard Jenna went off to college a few weeks back. I wish I'd have caught her. Maybe I could have given her a few tips." Suddenly your conversation is interrupted by Natalie crushing you in the game and shouting in victory, "Ha! Turns out that even now I can still kick your butt at video games." She turns and smiles warmly at you.

You can't deny that your best friend is attractive. Especially when she's smiling so happily. Comparatively speaking it seems as if Olivia is always worried about some thing or another and while she does respect your hobbies, she doesn't partake in them. Perhaps, in the privacy of your living room...It could be time to make a move on your longtime friend.

Do you make a move, or congratulate her victory?
