Chapter 9 by CAboy1 CAboy1

Who is at the elevator?

A Police Detective

A Bangkok City Police Detective stepped out of the elevator and asked, “Are you Ms. Dao, who checked I last night?”

Dao suddenly became very nervous. Why would a police detective be interested in her? Did this have to do with the sex change? Was he helping cover it up? The cops in Bangkok were known for being corrupt. She decided honesty might be the best way to go.

“Yes, detective, I am Dao,” she said.

“The hotel reported that you tried to use the credit card of a David Robinson last night. Can you explain how you got the card?”

“I…I found it detective,” she replied.

“Found it? Where did you find it? David Robinson was reported missing two nights ago. Suddenly a street whore turns up using one. How do you explain that?” the detective asked.

“Well, I found it on the street, like I said.”

“Which street? Which street whore?” the detective demanded. “Let me see your purse,” he said as he grabbed it away from her.

“Wait,” was all Dao could say before the man opened it up. He tossed out the three condoms and the baht bills. He then cocked an eyebrow as he pulled out both of David’s credit cards. ”Interesting,” he commented. He then pulled out the driver’s license and the cash. He looked up at Dai and scowled. “So girl, how do you explain this?”

Shit! Shit! Shit! She thought to herself. How was she going to explain this? No one would believe the truth. She quickly decided to go with a plausible lie. “Detective, I found it in an alley next to the Soi Cowboy club last night. I do some work down there.”

With a lustful smirk the detective said, “I am sure you do.” Looking her over again he said, I am sure you do very good business. But that is not important. I must take you to the station so we can take your statement for the record.”

“What? No, please. I don’t want to go to jail, please no,” she begged. The idea off spending even a short amount of time in a Bangkok jail was terrifying based on the stories he had been told.

“I must this is an important case. This David Robinson was an important and very wealthy man. The American Embassy is putting a lot of pressure on us. In fact the FBI is flying in agents to help us.”

Dao stood in shock, yes was, or had been, a wealthy man with a lot of political friends. However he never imagined that they would go to this length to find him. Then he started to panic again, what must his wife and kids think? What would she learn about her husband? A husband who now no longer exists. Maybe he should go, maybe someone would believe him. Maybe this had happened before? It was a long shot.

Does she go?
