A Night Out

"Get ready, we're going out." I'd just got back from work after a long week. I hadn't seen Lily much since the previous weekend. Her shifts had clashed with my work and we'd only seen each other in passing.

"I mean now" Lily reprimanded, striding past me and heading upstairs. "Let's go out and meet Jake and Abby."

"Do I have to?" I asked, tired from the week. I'd hoped to just unwind and catch up with Lily.

"Yes, stop being old," Lily said firmly, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "We're meeting Jake and Abby in half an hour."

I sighed heavily, running my hands through my hair. "Alright," I relented.

I threw on some smart clothes before sitting and waiting for Lily. An hour later we arrived at the bar, it was already was buzzing even though it was only 7pm. The music thumped loudly, and people were crowded the dance floor.

Jake, Abby and Laura were sat at a table near the bar. We pushed our way through the crowd to go meet them. We greeted them and I headed to the bar to get us all some drinks.

I scanned the crowd, feeling overwhelmed by the noise and energy. I ordered the drinks and stood at the bar while I waited. Lily, Jake, Abby, and Laura seemed to be having a lively conversation. Their laughter filled the air, and they appeared to be having a blast. I **** a smile, hoping that I could find the strength to join them.

As I approached the table, I saw a flicker of amusement in Lily's eyes. "Come on," she said, motioning for me to sit down. "We've saved you a seat."

"Thanks," I mumbled, sinking into the chair. It was next to Jake and I couldn't hide my look of distain as I sat next to him. I noticed he wore a shit eating grin when he looked at me.

We all got several drinks in and the conversation was flowing. I'd even warmed up to Jake a little, finding him quite affable. His teasing sense of humour lightened the mood and made me laugh more than once. He was flirtatious with Lily, but he was like that with everyone.

Lily stood up abruptly, announcing a trip to the smoking area. I wasn't much of a smoker, but I did partake on nights out. It was more to escape the noise for a few moments. Jake got up to join us too, and I wasn't annoyed, it felt like some personal growth.

So the three of us, pretty buzzed, made our way outside like a drunken conga line. The smoking area was just a fenced off area, just out the back of the bar. There was about ten other people there, in their own little groups.

We found a spot and Lily pulled out her cigarettes. She placed one in her mouth and passed one to me. Jake stood there expectantly.

"Again Jake? You're always tapping off me" Lily protested, before handing him a cigarette.

"I was always taught to share" Jake retorted. He lit it up then offered me a light.

We stood there puffing away. I noticed Jake's gaze wandering between us.

"So, Alex I've noticed you've seemed a bit off with me the last couple of weeks." Jake said, blowing smoke into the cool night air.

"It's nothing man, it's cool," I reassured him, exhaling my own smoke. It was kind-of true, I felt like this evening we'd sorted it out. I don't know what I was worrying about anyway.

Jake and I were starting to get along, and I could finally see why Lily liked hanging out with him. He was charismatic, charming, and knew how to lighten the mood. That's probably why everyone seemed drawn to him. He was fun to be around.

Lily laughed, "you should tell him" she was looking right at me.

"No, it's cool" I shifted uncomfortably. We had pretty much buried the hatchet and I could see Lily making this extremely awkward for me.

"I'll tell you Jake" Lily continued, she stepped closer to Jake so the three of us made a tight circle.

She blew her smoke out towards the sky and then leaned in conspiratorially. "He gets really jealous, and he saw that you sent me a dick pic" she whispered, her voice lowering.

"Really?" Jake's eyes widened, "oh, shit man, I'm sorry! I send those to everyone." He laughed, "Here, look."

I'm not sure what I expected, I thought that maybe he was going to pull his phone out and show that he'd sent the messages to a lot of people. But what I saw when I looked down shocked me, even in my drunken haze.

Jake was stood in front of me, cigarette in his mouth, and in his hand he was wielding his flaccid cock. It was still impressive, it looked bigger than on the picture and it wasn't even hard. I was shocked.

She looked up at me and shrugged, "he does that sometimes." She looked back at Jake, at his face this time. "He's worried he doesn't measure up." Lily smirked, and I glared at her.

"Lets see," Jake challenged, puffing on his cigarette, holding his unnaturally large cock in the other hand.

"Jake, put it away man." I couldn't believe what was happening. I looked at Lily, pleading for her intervention.

Lily rolled her eyes, clearly enjoying the situation. "Don't let it bother you, babe. It's just a harmless prank."

This was a setback in our improving relations, but we were all pretty drunk so I could let it slide.

After a couple more drags on my cigarette, I walked back inside, with Lily and Jake trailing behind me. We rejoined Abby and Laura and started dancing, laughing carelessly. The music pulsated through my veins. I swayed, letting the rhythm carry me away.

I'd managed to block out the humiliating encounter and focus on enjoying the rest of the night. Lily was dancing and drinking, seemingly oblivious to the awkwardness she'd created.

It was nearing closing time and Lily came over to me. "Should we invite them over for drinks?" Lily suggested, referring to Jake and Abby.
