So, when Bail had ordered (read: threatened) her to oversee the procurement of the plans, Mon knew that he was sending her to Scariff to get rid of her. But he had no idea that she planned to make amends for the increasingly violent and vile actions of her colleagues.

As an offer of parlay, she brought with her, not only several female assistants and some of Bail's more loyal soldiers (who had been sent along for her 'protection') and a young Jedi Padawan, Mara Jade.
