Chapter 4

Fall
Once again, into your view walks...
A Male Mage and a Female Rogue
Into the crack of the broom closet walks a tall, pale man wearing a set of plain red robes, and a modestly dressed rogue equipped with a bow and quiver strung on her back, and two daggers in sheathes at her waist. The pale man was wielding a simple wooden staff with a red jewel. Thinking back on what the man was wearing, you deduce that he's a Fire Mage, since you've been blasted by them quite a few times. As for the rogue, you've never seen one wield both a bow and daggers, typically one or the other, so you become slightly wary of her. While studying the pair, they began to chat.
(Rogue) Where did Adalaine go?
(Mage) I don't know. She sent me a message saying she's going to try and solo this dungeon for the boss's rare drop.
(Rogue) Which drop was that?
(Mage) A drop called Frost Blade, I think. A 1-handed word that does decent damage, and has freezing effects. Though there wasn't any enemies, the boss door hasn't been activated yet since the enemies haven't respawn. Did she get killed off by that weird priest mob?
(Rogue) Priest? What mob was that?
(Mage) There was a strange priest here. He always wore basic robes, but could be seen sweeping the floor, cleaning that alter over there, or repairing some of these pews. Most people didn't care so they just killed him like any other mob.
(Rogue) A self-aware enemy? Think he's an NPC? This game strives after realism, after all.
(Mage) I doubt it. He's registered within the enemy list in all of the wiki's. And no one has tried to talk before, so I doubt anyone will start caring now.
(Rogue) That's somewhat sad.
(Mage) Well, an enemy is an enemy. Let's look around and see if she didn't just drop something or fell asleep somewhere.
(Rogue) Knowing her, it very might just happen.
Looking back at the still unconsciousness warrior, you felt a small measure of pity for her. " Your friends really don't think much of you, huh?", you quietly murmur. Standing up, from the crouching position you were in, you ready yourself. You're going to try and take on the pair. Considering that the mage will do the most damage the quickest, you decide to take him out first. Brazenly, you throw open the closet door while readying a Dark Fireball. Both the Mage and the Rogue quickly turn around, immediately drawing their weapons, the mage his staff, the rogue her daggers to protect the mage. Not that it helped against a ranged opponent. The fireball flies forward, hitting the mage directly in the head. "Uggh", he groaned dully. He took a large hit and his HP must have been similar to your own. Taking the black orb, his body evaporated dropping his staff, and two blue bottles. After he died, a strange noise went off but you ignored it, and looked at the Rogue. Enraged at seeing her friend die, the rogue yelled and rushed towards you. Seeing the enraged rogue, you quickly conjure another Dark Fireball, and orders it to fly towards the Rogue's feet. Flying quickly, the ball makes the rogue trip, sending her tumble forward. Throwing yourself to the side, the rogue continues forward, and crashes into the wall. As she somehow survived the tumble, and was currently stunned, you run over to the shattered pew from when the warrior got thrown into it, and pick up a leg from the bench. Running over to the Rogue, you crack her on the head with it. The Rogue falls to the ground ****, instead of dying like you hoped. "She's tough", you say while admiring her tenacity. Taking some rope from the shattered pew, you catch yourself smiling. You did it! You finally defeated heroes. Not just one, but three! Thinking on what you've done, you laugh aloud with hands on your hips.
After a long moment of gloating over your victory, you walk to the Rogue and tie up her hands and legs and sift through her pockets. You take her daggers and bow, and three red potions, and a pouch of white powder which you have no idea what it could be used for. Going to where the mage died, you pick up the staff and the two blue bottles, which were MP potions. Looking at the staff, you wondered if there was any way you could inspect the staff. Thinking on it, you decide to ask either the Rogue or Warrior whenever they wake up. You drag out the Warrior and sit her a distance away from the Rogue, in case they try and help each other escape. Nodding at your handiwork, you grab the broom, and start to clean. For whatever reason, the cleanup function of your alter room does not have a restore function like the other rooms, meaning you had to clean it up on your own. After cleaning up, you think back to the strange noise you head after the Mage dies. Thinking on it, your eyes lit up. "Could it be?!" you yell excitingly, "Status".

Huh? I'm a Priest...right? Isn't Raise Dead a Dark Summoner or Necromancer skill? And why did Heal and Dark Fireball both get a I as well? Confused but nonetheless pleased, you decide to just drop it for now, and try out the Raise Dead skill. "Hmm, let's try out the warrior first, since it'd be nice if someone could take hits for me.", you mutter quietly. Using the skill, a black orb appears with a white dot inside of it gently resting in your hand. You let the orb fall onto the ground, and a large black ring appeared on the ground where the orb fell. Slowly climbing out of the hole, was a skeleton, with a tattered breastplate, a rusted long sword, and a tattered shield. It looked sturdy enough, well, as sturdy as a skeleton can be. As for the other skills, you're guessing that you gained skill proficiency and can level them up, just like those players, that always chattered about these things. Thinking of what to do next, you stare at the two girls tied up, and notice they are beginning to wake up. Walking over to them, you decide what to do.
What do you do?
Game Monster
From Creep to Boss
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
