A Language Barrier Leads to a Fight

The air was whistling. As Cass began to awake from her state of unconsciousness, she could hear the intensity of the wind around her. No, not just hear it, feel it as well. Feel it pushing against her body. The nothingness that surrounded her was only the wind. Cassandra’s eyes snapped open in realization that she was in free fall, going down head first toward the ground. Cass stared at the ground that she was rapidly approaching from above. If she had to guess, she was, at this second, six hundred feet in the air. Five hundred. She was approaching a town of some kind. Four hundred. Were those walls around it? Three hundred. Really, really big walls. Two hundred. Places around the world started racing through Cass’s mind, trying to figure out her exact location. One hundred. Batgirl grabbed onto her cape with both hands, spreading it out wide. The wind pushing against her was now pushing against the cape, slowing her descent. Cass glided through the air as she got closer and closer to the ground. People on the ground looked up as a bat-like silhouette passed by above them.

Batgirl’s feet finally touched land as she landed on the orange tiled roof of some building. Looked like German architecture. She turned to the walls, looking them over once more. They were easily one hundred feet tall, probably even taller. So, now she knew two things, there’s a wall surrounding the town she landed in and that the town seems to be German. There was the Berlin wall, though that got torn down three decades ago and was only about thirteen feet tall. She didn’t know of any locations on Earth that had a wall like that, unless it's hidden like a certain island full of Amazons. That is if she was on Earth. The people down below looked human and they sure are using human-like equipment, along with coincidentally German looking architecture. So, Earth is a good assumption, though things have been weirder than Planet Germany, so, it's not out of the picture either.

The most pressing matter was how she got here. Cass began recalling the events prior. She was out on patrol, standing on top of the ledge of a building overlooking the streets of Gotham. Suddenly, there had been a blinding light. Then Cass woke up falling, so she must have lost consciousness after the light hit her, presumably. That didn’t tell her much, other than she was ****. Cain then heard something in the distance, the sound of something whizzing through the air. Batgirl turned to the sound and saw someone soaring through the air toward her, using cables and some kind of pressurized gas to move effortlessly through the air. One of the cables pierced through the roof Cass was standing on, the cable pulling the person in as they landed on the opposite side of the roof.

The person standing in front of her was a young woman, around five foot seven and, judging from the sound the roof tiles made when she landed on them, one hundred eighty pounds, probably thirty pounds less without that gear on her. She had short black hair, similar to her own, and a scar on her right cheek, just below her eye. The gear she had was what was most interesting. The woman was in an all black outfit with a red scarf on and a bunch of belts covering her uniform, probably meant to hold the device she used earlier onto her body. There was an armoured section on the chest. It had an insignia on it: a pair of wings, one blue and the other white. Near her legs was a kind of sheath of some kind. They were large and metallic, housing what seemed to be blades of some kind, along with a type of spear within them. But the thing that stood out to Cass the most was her eyes. She had the eyes of a seasoned warrior.

The woman narrowed her eyes, "Who are you and why are you here!" she shouted as she connected what seemed to be a hilt to one of the blades in the sheath, making a sword that was thirty-five inches long. She spoke in a language Cass had never heard before; it seemed to be an odd fusion of Japanese, German, and Hebrew. She didn’t know how to respond. She could tell what the woman’s intentions were based on her body language. She wanted answers. She looked like she was apart from her nation's military. Probably not happy about the woman covered head-to-toe in a skin-tight black outfit that resembles a bat. The white lenses over Cass’s eyes narrowed. She wasn’t sure if she should respond. Would she even understand her?

"Batgirl. Not sure." Cass quietly answered to the best of her ability.

The woman's eyes narrowed as well. It was clear she couldn’t understand a word coming from Cass’s mouth. "Not from Paradis then, nor Marley, given that I don’t recognize that language." The woman was becoming more tense. "In that case, you’ll be coming with me." she demanded, as she pulled out another blade.

Seems responding made matters worse. A breeze came in from the east, blowing against the two, causing Batgirl’s cape and the woman’s hair to flow to the left as the two locked eyes. Cass lifted her arms up, getting into a combat stance.
