A Knock on the Door

As Laurie chewed her pencil and glowered at her notes, she heard a couple of taps on the door that opened into the shared kitchen. Getting up from her desk, she pulled it open.

As she expected, on the other side was Dan, the flatmate the university had placed her with. He loomed over her at 6'3", and Laurie thought he was a little goofy looking. She saw his eyes dart as he quickly looked her up and down: light grey tracksuit bottoms, socks, and a cream jumper - what any student might be wearing in their room at 8pm on a Thursday. Laurie might have imagined it, but she thought his eyes rested for a fraction of a second on the inch of skin between her top and bottoms.

"Hey Laurie," he said with a broad grin. "I wondered if you'd want to take a quick revision break?" - he held up a six pack of beers. "I've got friends over?"

Laurie paused for a second. She didn't know Dan well, but she was bored as hell and not retaining any of her studies.
