Why the Heck Not?

"Sure" Laurie answered slowly. This was the first time Dan had ever invited her over like this - and she really needed a drink. As she stepped into his bedroom, she noticed Dan had misled her: he had a friend over, who she recognised as Josh - a dark-haired, thick-set student.

Josh sat in the only chair in the small room. As Dan shut the door behind them, he guided her to sit next to him on the bed with his hand on the small of her back: a gesture more intimate that she would have expected, but not quite enough for her to react.

But to Laurie’s surprise, as she drank and chatted she found she was really enjoying herself. Dan and Josh were a genuinely funny pair, and Laurie laughed and smiled at their lame jokes. They knew each other from the university’s soccer team, and had that loud, crass banter Laurie associated with sports teams.

Sipping the lager, Laurie realised how long it had been since she had drunk ****. The beer filled her mind with a relaxed fuzz, and brought a pink glow to her cheeks.
