'That's comforting,' I thought. I didn't remember dying, but I was clearly dead. There was no other way to explain it. And... turns out every religion was wrong? I'd spent my life being made to feel like a degenerate shit for no reason, it seemed. Irritating, but also... somehow comforting. Nothing mattered, then? At least nothing I'd been told mattered. I wasn't going to hell, I wasn't to be tortured for all eternity. If anything, I'd done well. At least as far as these literal goddesses cared to measure it, and hey, they were going to make me a powerful monster and set me loose on a world.

Why the fuck not? And if it was my dark fantasies that led me here in the first place, I decided to lean into them.

I did not. They had tipped their hand already, telling me they were committed to giving me whatever I wanted, so I could just make my choices and be done. As I did choose, however, I felt my body changing. Shifting. Becoming the thing I wanted.

My small body was going to take some getting used to. Living metal in the shape of some kind of alien insect, and only a few feet long. Winged, with several curved legs and tendrils and a long abdomen that could bend and flex like a thick tentacle. It was a good start.

This one required a bit of thought, and I wasn't sure which one would suit me best. In the end, I just picked one to move on.

I had mixed feelings about the dungeon, since I had planned to wander the world and indulge in whatever fantasy-world female happened to attract my attention, and as much as I did like the idea of a home base in which I could be nearly unstoppable, it just wasn't my priority. I was small, and wasn't looking to dominate or overpower anyone. I wanted to poison and paralyze to take my helpless victims at my leisure.

"Now, for the moment we've all anxiously awaited," Melanoche said, explaining again how my human soul allows me to benefit from Light-side powers, abilities, and potential. "Choose your Class, keeping in mind that most Monsters don't ever get a class."

It was almost a whim. I'd wanted to roam, to be free, and in life I had a bit of a thing for fantasy elves. That's all there was to it, really. I just liked the idea of knowledge being power, and not in a silly robes-and-sorcery way.

I wondered what Carnachias meant with that, but I wasn't about to turn down free power.

I was really focused on having fun with this new lease on life. I didn't much care for any grand legacy or perfect offspring, although the idea of tinkering with breeding and bloodlines to create something really interesting did appeal to me. I was going to impregnate plenty of women as I journeyed, but thanks to the waters of the Dark goddesses' immortality fountain, I had plenty of time to worry about all that after I'd had my fun.

Maybe I'd manage to secure a dungeon for myself by the time I was ready to settle down. It was time to go.
