Who do we follow as the hotel falls to the Idol?
A Group of People Who Escaped in a Elevator
Gregory held the door open cautiously stepping out and looking around.
“Hurry.” He ordered in a hushed tone to the assorted people shuffling out into the elevator vestibule.
There was a sudden scream.
“WHAT THE FUCK! HELP!” Those left in the elevator quickly scrambled out, leaving one heavier set guy in a suit, now **** as two hands reached out from the elevator wall to hold him. More hands began emerging from the walls grabbing at a second man trying to rip him free, clasping his ankles from the floor toppling him as he hung from the first man the walls had grabbed.
Gregory went to reach for them, the elevator doors now forcefully pushing shut, slowly with more and more ****.
“Get him free. HURRY!” Gregory shouted, trying to prop the doors open with the full **** of his body.
“I… I can't… They're too strong…” The second man responded his eyes going wide as he became aware of what Gregory was trying to not flag.
The elevator had started rising back up.
Gregory had only 4 feet between the ceiling and the elevator floor when he finally threw himself clear of the door.
Landing roughly on the ceramic tile floor he sobbed for the departed elevator. He didn't even have time to say he was sorry.
“Hey, its Greg right.” The young clean cut professional looked a bit worn in his torn suit, his body appearing lanky next to Gregory. Of course, he could see the signs of past trauma on Gregory’s actions as blatantly as the sun on a clear morning.
“You know we have to move. That's why you wanted to be first to scout out down here. Now let's escape.” Charles worked psychology for a trauma center specializing in refugees from war zones. He expected work was going to only get busier with the unexplained phenomenon going on here. War victims at least could explain what they'd experienced, what was happening here was too unreal.
Still, first they had to survive, something Gregory was already preconditioned to do. He just needed a chance to pull his mind back together.
Looking around there were maybe 10 of them.
When shit went down they had the fortune of not being caught in either the hypnotic dance orgy, or the flash of arousal that occurred at the ballroom's main doors. Charles didn't know how else to describe it, trying to ignore thoughts about the creatures they all had seen. The temptations to go see more of them.
Charles had been fortunate enough to crowd into one of the nearby elevators to the parking garage. They had all chosen to go to the lowest level, anything trying to pursue them down the stairs would take longer.
Glancing to another person Gregory told them to listen for movement in the stairs Charles was relieved for them to signal no alarm.
“Is anyone here parked on this floor?” Charles asked. Two hands went up. “What do you drive and how far are your cars?”
“Mine is a red camry against the back wall.” A middle aged man responded pointing off in one direction through the window into the strangely still lot.
“I drive a yellow beetle" A shaken looking blonde haired girl replied, not pointing out where, she was obviously distressed, the bottom seam of her dress ripped clean off by something grasping at her as she fled.
Charles didn't like how that added up.
“Alright, the three of us will carefully sneak to the furthest car. Then driving back here to load up your car you drop us off at her car, to quickly come behind to grab the rest.” Charles planned out with those present.
“Fuck that. I get to my car I'm gone. I'm not risking coming back here.” The blonde angrily ranted, eyes wide with terror.
“Calm down. We can't risk everyone out there.” Charles attempted to explain, his voice strained with stress and emotion.
“She's right. Why should I chance driving around this lot looking for her car when we can just get out of here.” The other driver chimed in, his head scanning back and forth the view from the vestibule. The garage looked safe enough.
The elevator started humming again, obviously back in operation. Gregory glared at it for a moment, his mind thinking of just what might have happened to the two men it had literally just consumed.
“They're both right. We can't waist time trying to keep everyone here.” Gregory chimed in, his sentence betraying his usually well suppressed Eastern European accent.
Looking over the group Gregory sized everyone up. “Lose the heels ladies. Nice choice of flats.” He began pointing to four of the group whose faces contorted at the thought of going barefoot. “Take off the shoes, or you won't be able to run should you need to.” Gregory reinforced his statement with urgency standing up.
The elevator pinged as it stopped at a floor on its approach. “It will be here soon. We must be gone. I go with her, her and him to beetle.” Gregory pointed out commandingly splitting the group in half.
“You, I didn't get your name.” Gregory then turned to Charles.
“I'm Charles.”
“Good to meet you, I trust you can keep charge and get them safe to the other car.” Gregory responded glaring at the car owner as he moved to object to such statements, backing down as he was fearful more than anything.
The elevator slowly wound closer.
“GO!” Gregory shouted , everyone running out of the vestibule. Not daring to look back at the soon to open elevator.
Who should we follow?
