A Free Throw

You dribbled to the free throw line. Considering you hadn’t touched a basketball in months, you figured that you needed something easy to start with. After setting your feet, you bounced the ball a couple times. You balanced the ball on your right hand. You quickly raised your hand and snapped your wrist. It wasn’t a pretty shot. It bounced off the right side of the rim before it hit the left side of the rim and dropped in.

Jim picked up the ball and tossed it to Joe. After a couple bounces, he dropped it into the bucket. Jim took the ball and made it look easy. It was not surprising since he barely missed making the team. Like you, Linda took a shot that looked bad, but it went in. A second time, Jim made it look easy. Almost as if to tease you, Joe’s shot circled the rim twice before it fell in. Since everyone had made your shot, you needed to take something off. Almost casually you unbuttoned your blouse. Sliding it off your shoulders, you tossed it onto the bench.

While you were paying the penalty, the game continued. Joe missed a three pointer from the corner. Jim made a baby hook that Linda missed. However, since Joe had missed, Linda didn’t have to strip. Jim made a three pointer from the top of the key. When Joe made it as well, you got nervous. Moving to the top of the key, you wiped your hands on your skirt and waited for Linda to toss you the ball. You bounced it a coupled times. You wiped your hands again before you launched the ball towards the basket.
