A Fastball Special Gone Wrong

In the middle of a crowded city, the sound of shouting, explosions and general commotion could be heard all around. As was often the case, at the very centre of the chaos was a group of spandex-clad individuals fighting for the good of the people around them, doing their best to put a stop to evil and defeat the villains terrorising the city.

In this case, the group of spandex-clad individuals happened to be a group of X-Men, and the villains in question were a group of robotic sentinels gone rogue. Of course the robotic monsters had never really been good to begin with, but apparently it was considered a much bigger issue now that they were hostile to humans and mutants alike.

At the very centre of the chaos was Laura Kinney, also known as X-23, the young heroine in her usual tight black leather outfit, slashing apart sentinel wiring in a way that was shockingly graceful for a Wolverine.

As her and the group of X-Men fought off the waves of robotic fiends, one Sentinel began to activate it’s thrusters, preparing to take-off, possibly to escape, possibly to attack, even possibly to report back it’s findings after Forge had managed to disconnect the Sentinels from their database, allowing the X-Men to take them down without fear of back-up incoming.

“Some needs to stop that thing!” Came the voice of Kitty Pryde, too busy phasing through one of the sentinels to rip out its CPU. “I-I am unable, there are too many of them!” Storm yelled, the lightning-powered mutant busy fending off three Sentinels at once with with her powers, “Ditto!” Came the voice of Logan, the original Wolverine, backing and slashing at the metallic titans surrounding him with vicious ferocity.

Seeing no other options, Rogue could only watch as she saw the escaping sentinel, her own powers of flight not enough to catch-up quickly enough. Eyes widening however, she turned her attention to X-23, who was busy finishing off a nearby Sentinel with a slash of her foot-claw. Saying a silent prayer that this wouldn’t end in her getting stabbed, the southern Belle saw no other choice, causing the clone to yelp as she scooped Laura up by the back of her crop-top.

“What the- What are you doing?!” X-23 yelled out, green eyes wide with rage as she was scooped up like a viciously feral cat rather than a Wolverine. “Apologies sugah, ah don’t exactly have time to tell you the plan. Now to long!” She yelled, with every ounce of super-strength in her body, and doing her best to avoid risking contact with the feral mutant’s skin due to her own power-absorbing abilities, Rogue reared her hands back and launched Laura as hard as she could.

That was the plan at least, however at the last second, Rogue was distracted by the blast of a Sentinel’s laser, letting out a yelp as she felt herself fall off-balance, distracted enough that she didn’t quite let go of the clone of Wolverine’s tight leather crop-top and pants in time as she was launched.

“Uh oh.” Rogue murmured to herself, as the sound of loud tearing filled the battlefield, causing the woman to wince.
