What is this barrier, really? How do you progress?

A Door with a Secret Expression

Chapter 6 by dracone

"Well, I'm at a loss on how to proceed, maybe we should backtrack," said Evan.

"That stopped being an option a while ago," said Sakura, she gestured the way they had come and what looked like a wall of solid rock, the same kind as the tunnel, was blocking their way back. "I already checked, unless you can fit through a gap 14 centimeters wide, you are not getting out of here that way, I know that is beyond my abilities."

"What did you do before you ended up where I found you," inquired Evan.

"I was a laborer, builder to be precise," said Sakura, "I mostly built bridges, my clan usually didn't need us to build protective structures that lasted more than a day, but someone to make bridges across wide chasms or rivers was always appreciated."

"I see; you might find some work doing some different things in the town this dungeon is near once we make our way out." Even then put both hands on the apparent metal wall and banged his head on it, he was getting ready to do so again when Sakura stopped him and pointed to characters that were appearing on the wall. To him, it was nothing more than pretty pictographic images; Sakura had a look of recognition on her face.

"It's a riddle, a rather odd one," Sakura said in surprise.

"What does it say," inquired Evan.

"Um, well, the question is a bit longwinded but it's not something you don't say in polite company."

"Well, FUCK," said Evan in annoyance, "pardon my terminology, I'm just frus..." the wall slides to the side, revealing a room with six wooden chests inside. "We do not speak of how we got this door open, ever!"

"Agreed!" The two made their way into the room. In addition to the six chests, there were two gray stone doors, one to the left and one to the right. The door behind them could be heard sealing back up after they entered the chamber.
