A Deeper Level

I felt a breeze as she passed me, and quickly smelled a mixture of flowers. Aurora, and her dark brown locks walked to the front of the class, with many eyes following her sauntering hips.

"Morning class," said Aurora. Her stern face looked around the room, quickly glancing at the badges that many of the students wore. After a few moments her face soured.

"Today I am going to teach you a bit about objects of power," said Aurora. Her eyes moved around, until they landed on me. For the first time today, Aurora smiled, and I smiled back.

"She wants some Halfhwit," whispered Michael. I ignored the sideways glances of Padma, and the confused looks of Hermione. For a moment, I was trapped in her eyes, until she looked away. Suddenly I was released from her spell.

"Some objects are spoken in ancient times that have abilities to this day our magic cannot match. And yet." I pulled the aegis onto my face. Wondering what my chances were with this fox.

What? Why were the chances so low? This girl was into me, I think.

Aurora looked at me again, her face for the first time growing serious.

"And yet. We have found objects in modern times that are as spectacular and unexplainable, as they are terrible." Aurora turned away, suddenly writing down names and dates onto the board.

"Objects that can make us invisible, objects that can let us view different worlds, and some objects... that can alter probability itself." Aurora turned away from the board as I began to think of what she said. The Aegis I had altered probability. That was some coincidence.

"These objects can be just at the tip of our nose," said Aurora. Her eyes were locked on me, this couldn't be coincidence. "The important thing for those of us who find these objects, is that we realize they can effect more than just what it tells us. More than just the options it presents us" She grew silent as she looked at me. She had to be speaking directly to me, almost as if she were talking about this Aegis in particular, but that would mean she knew some way what it was.

The message she was saying in particular, was that the Aegis could affect more than just what it was telling me, but was she really saying that? Or was I just imagining this all, because of coincidence?

I did have time to try to test it. I thought in my mind wondering what I could do, but destiny intervened.

A knock sounded at the door, and into the room scurried Colin Creevey, beaming at Harry.

"Sorry miss," said Colin, "I am here to get Harry for the wand weighing, and Idius." Aurora stared at him in near anger. Colin's smile died away.

"You're taking Idius," said Aurora. Again she looked at me as if the thought of me leaving her class was heresy. "Fine." Aurora turned away, and proceeded with her lessen.
