A Decent Man

Leon arrived 5 minutes early as usual. He was always a gentleman but he never gave Nadia any grand gestures like flowers or chocolates. He had respected the fact that she didn’t want to date. Despite meeting on a dating app!

Leon had that trademark smile. It was infectious and Nadia couldn’t help but smile back. They talked about their days. Work. Leon was a janitor at the local high school. He wasn’t embarrassed about it. That was one of the things Nadia likes about Leon. He was down to Earth and humble. He had no insecurities. He was a decent man.

”Are you hungry Nadia? Because I am starving?” Leon said.

”I actually have something for you,” Nadia said, unzipping her backpack.

It was some homemade fried rice with braised beef and veggies. In a Tupperware container. Leon smiled.

“Oh Nadia, you are too good to me,” he took the box and opened it. It was still warm and fragrant. They sat on a bench while he munched down. Nadia was pleased.

”This is fantastic! Absolutely fantastic! You should open your own restaurant,” Leon said.

”Really? Thanks,” Nadia smiled.

The room service at The Pony was skyrocketing ever since Nadia started to make the food. Alice was seeing dollar signs, but more so Nadia cooked for the both of them. Them eating together in Alice’s room watching crime dramas surrounded by a Lego **** Star and PlayStation.

Leon and Nadia played a couple rounds of bowling until it was evident that Nadia couldn’t get anything other than a gutter bowl. He laughed and tried to show her the ropes but sports wasn’t her forte.

Leon was dropping her home when there was a *FLASH*. The hair stood up on the back of her neck.

“Stalker…” Nadia whispered.

However this time Leon was here. He looked at Nadia and then at the trenchcoat man 50 yards away.

”Hey! You!” Leon shouted. Then he ran after him.
