:Demon Deals:

Since The Tower Below and It's Demonic Deals are going to be more important from this point on, I thought I'd explain them in a special post so they're easier to find.

Demon Deals are whenever you choose to use a Demonic Object.

Demonic Objects can be in the following forms:

Equipment

Spellbooks

Consumables.

Demonic Equipment is often very powerful and will always have special abilities, similar in nature to the types of equipment you get from Floor Bosses, the difference is that Demonic Equipment is often much more powerful and has significant drawbacks. Often some kind of permanent debuff.

Example: a demonic sword might boost your physical, but make you unable to use magic or it might empower your magic, but drains your health each time you use a spell.

Demonic Spellbooks give you access to extremely powerful spells that can be completely game changing, but the price of learning these spells is often steep. Permanent debuffs, status effects or worst of all Curses. The level of power of the spell will determine which of those prices the character will pay.

Permanent Debuffs are usually pretty bad, but despite their name they can be healed in various ways and are often pretty specific.

Example: A permanent Debuff might be something like healing spells now work as reverse life drain and the cost for casting healing is that you now lose health equivalent to the amount the spell would heal.

Status Effects are just... well status effects. Learning the spell gives you a sudden temporary status effect... Like poisoned or the like.

Curses will get their own section at the bottom of this.

Demonic Consumables are often just normal consumables like health potions or the like that are doubly as effective as their normal counterpart, but have a trade off. Example: A demonic health potion might heal double the hp, but also affect you with an aphrodisiac poison or disable one of your spells.

There may be extra effects of taking Demon Deals that are more far reaching... Like drawing attention.

Lastly

Curses!

Curses are by far the most detrimental thing in The Tower of Voices and can absolutely ruin a run.

The Curses are as follows.

Obedience makes it so that the chosen will be powerless to resist any command given, this includes those from the voices. Essentially it means that the wording the voices use will have to be more precise and that sapient threats will be potentially much more dangerous.

Famine makes it so that a chosen will acquire half as many materials from each gathering point.

Lust makes the chosen suffer from a constant growing arousal that will undoubtedly effect their decision making if not kept in check.

Narcolepsy means that the chosen will occasionally simply require rest at times and be unable to resist the urge to sleep, no matter where they are and what they are doing.

Absentminded will cause all of the chosen's spells to become unmastered and they will no longer be capable of mastering spells. They will also occasionally require twice as much mana to cast a spell.

Atrophy makes the chosen's physical body weaken considerably. Their max HP becomes lower and their combat level drops.
