8. Chase

You walk out your door, ready for your morning run. If you’re the girl next door, Chase is the boy next door. He’s a good looking guy with brown hair and a friendly face. He keeps in shape and whenever you’re both in town you make a point of running together. This morning, he’s waiting for you on his front steps, talking to his dad about something. You can definitely tell he and his father are related. Chase absolutely looks like the younger version of the man standing in his doorway.

“Hey babe! Hey Mr. Phillips!”

“Good morning Elise.” His dad sounds serious, like there’s something wrong. “As I was just telling Chase, I think you might want to run a different route today. There have been some incidents in the park lately.”

“And as I was just telling you,” Chase sounds exasperated, “with two of us we’ll be fine!”

“I think you should just be on the safe side, don’t you Elise?”
