What's next?

5 minutes later…

True to their worries, SHIELD arrived with the same grace and ceremony as a SWAT team barging in with guns aimed at the Fantastic Four’s heads as dozens of agents poured through the front door and secured every room in the house. Many of them instantly feeling disoriented to the space being FAR larger than it appeared from outside. A couple of said agents looking like they were in a panic when they stumbled into a laboratory that was three times the space of the house it was supposed to be the interior of.

The Four and their guests however were silent with pan expressions on their faces, their hands over their heads as SHIELD agents barked orders at them to remain where they were until director Fury casually made his way inside the building and made a simple gesture of his hand to tell his men to stand down.

“Good evening, Reed, Susan, I see you’ve got company.” The man nodded to the three extra Susan Storms sitting politely at the living room table where six, well armed SHIELD agents glared back at them. “They seem nice… For now.”

“Thanks.”

“Welcome to our home Director Fury.” Sighed Reed, almost regretting letting SHIELD know what happened as they surrounded his family armed like they didn’t know who they were. “Can I get you something to drink for you and your men?”

“We have a fresh pot of coffee HERBIE helped brew.” Offered Susan, about to get up from her seat but was gestured against it by a SHIELD agent behind her.

“I’m not here to stay and have a drink Mrs. Richards.” Explained the eye-patch wearing director as he snapped his fingers, and several men entered the room with what looked like bracelets in hand. “In light of the LAST time you had visitors, I don’t want a repeat of what happened at the helicarrier.”

Leaning over to whisper to the Invisible Woman, Daredevil ‘psst’ to her to get Susan’s attention. “What happened last year?”

Leaning over to whisper low herself, Susan answered. “A vampire version of me hypnotised all my friends and tried to kill SHIELD, for fun.”

“Ooooooh… Tsssssssss.” The blind woman winced, hissing under her teeth as she leaned back straight in her chair.

“Which is WHY you all are going to be tracked so we can keep an eye on you.” Each of Fury’s men clasped a wrist band over the four women, the devices humming to life with a soft green LED light. “Consider yourselves under house arrest until we can find your worst selves and have them detained.”

“Is that really necessary Director?” Asked Reed, getting up from his chair, only to be pushed back down by a gloved hand over his shoulder.

“Yes. Very much so.” Answered Fury with more steel in his voice. “THIS is so we can make sure where you all are while we deal with the ones we can’t find. But when we do, they will be detained and sent back where they come from.”

“Does that mean you’ll be bringing them all back here?”

Turning his attention to Johnny who looked back at the SHIELD director with pause, almost like he felt he asked a stupid question. Nick Fury nodded to his men who the majority of already made their way to Reed’s lab.

“We will be commandeering the portal and taking it into custody until we see fit that this little crisis has been contained.” Seeing everyone’s reaction to the matter, Director Fury was unphased by their anger as he watched his men get antsy, seeing the Thing barge out of his chair and found a dozen weapons aimed at his head. Fortunately, Reed stepped in to calm everyone down.

“Of course, we will accommodate your requests Director, but I do protest the treatment of my family during this affair, as I had contacted YOU about the matter and requested your aid in finding these variants of my wife.”

“That’s why I have you under house arrest instead of in a cell in the Raft under heavy observation Dr Richards. Assist us in moving the device under our custody and our observation of you and your family will be at a minimum.”

Making a face of disappointment, one shared by the rest of his family as he stepped out of his chair and made his way down the hall to the lab, Reed did as he was told. It took Mr. Fantastic half an hour to disassemble the portal and assist SHIELD in carting away in a transport sitting just outside his home. When all was said and done, Reed merely stood at the threshold of his shared home, watching SHIELD drive off with his equipment while Fury simply nodded back at him, telling him they will keep in touch when they have results, just as he stepped into his own vehicle and drove off.

Closing the door behind him, Reed looked up to the rest of his family who silently fumed after the humbling experience.

“You should have let me strike the awful cyclops!” Scoffed Jo-Venn, getting a fierce nod from his stepfather Ben.

“Yeah, Why’d youz call’em anyhow?”

“It was either tell him everything or keep it a secret until things got too hairy. We kept it a secret the first time and it led to a catastrophe. He’s just trying to gain control of what will likely be another one.”

“Yes, by the way, thanks again for surreptitiously inviting me to your reality without my consent.” Sighed the blind woman, waving her wrist which had a tracker beeping silently.

“Sorry…” Winced the elastic scientist, seeing the woman cross her arms and turn her head away dramatically, just like his wife would. “Well hopefully our OTHER uninvited guests are having it worse than you are.”
