3. Work

Jake was quite bored. He couldn’t spend all his time at home, dealing with his rude and obnoxious stepbrother. The constant tension between them was driving him up the wall, and he needed a change of pace.

He figured it was time to look for a job. He applied to several places in the area, hoping for a response. Days turned into weeks, and after what felt like thousands of interviews, Jake began to lose hope. The rejection emails kept coming, each one more discouraging than the last.

But then, just when he thought it was pointless, Jake finally started getting some calls back. At first, it was just a couple of quick, automated replies, but soon the real offers came. He couldn’t believe it—his phone was buzzing with notifications, and for once, it was good news.

Jake was excited, though a little anxious. He’d never had to make this kind of decision before. He stared at the offers, wondering which one would be the best fit for him. He couldn’t deny that the thought of being out of the house and away from his stepbrother sounded like a dream.

After some thinking, he came to the conclusion that he knew what he’d do.
