22-year-old notorious boxing cheat Daniel, by a disgruntled referee

Kacey was a boxing referee, and a pretty no-nonsense one at that. She made sure the fights were clean and fair. She had only had a bit of boxing training herself, but it was enough that she respected the competitors wholeheartedly and swore she would do everything she could to keep her the fighters from taking unnecessary damage.

But then, there was Daniel. An undefeated upstart on the pro regional scene. He knew how to play the game a bit too well. He fought dirty, and worst of all, he got away with it.

He was clever. He would never cheat enough to get a point deducted, or to get disqualified, but he would push it to the absolute limit. Other referees weren’t as strict as Kacey was, so Daniel would often be able to push quite far indeed. And because of that, he was winning fights and hurting his opponents more than he should have. And Kacey didn’t like that.

Daniel was an arrogant prick, too. He knew Kacey quite well, after all the times she’d tried giving him a stern talking to backstage after one of his victories under a more lenient referee. He always just laughed. Like he thought it was cute how she got mad at him for always cheating.

It was after his latest caper that Kacey finally had enough - loaded gloves. The glancing shots he threw after the bell were one thing, the punches to the back of the head and the occasional hair-pulling were far worse - but when Kacey found a pair of his gloves weighted to pack a heavier punch, that was the last straw. She knew something had to be done. And that nobody else was going to do it. He was going to have to be taught a thing or two about the consequences of cheating.

The problem was that she couldn’t just report it to anyone. He was only training for his next fight at the moment, and there was no rule against using loaded gloves while training. Of course, Kacey knew Daniel well enough to know that he was only training with them because he planned to use them in the fight, but she couldn’t prove that. Even if she waited until the day of the fight to reveal his trick, he would just be DQ’d, and she would really rather see him get his ass beat in the ring after still having to show up without being able to cheat as he wanted. So Kacey did what she thought was best.

That same day before he came to the gym to train, Kacey stole his loaded gloves and replaced them with normal ones. She wouldn’t let him use those things in his next big fight. Not a chance. Hopefully Daniel would abandon the idea of using loaded gloves entirely when he came to train and found he was wearing normal gloves instead, and realized he might not be able to rely on keeping track of them for the real fight. That might mean losing his advantage when it matters most, as well as getting caught if the real things are found in his locker room on the day of the fight. He would have to come up with some other way to cheat his next opponent, if he could.

Those things could do real damage to someone they landed on, and Kacey would rather he come up with some other way of cheating for an advantage than bring a pair of loaded gloves into a fight.

She also decided it would be fun to stick around after she completed the glove swap, to see him surprised and scared when his punches weren’t landing any harder than normal in sparring. Even more fun would be if she was the one he was sparring. So Kacey decided that when he came in for training, she would offer to box him in a small sparring match, to teach him a lesson and also let out some of her frustration on him for his previous fight antics.

But… Kacey bit her lip. She stared at the loaded gloves. The problem was that he was a pro boxer, and she’d only had a few amateur fights aside from her reffing career. Plus, he was a man. She wanted to have up-front seats to his shocked face, but the arrogant asshole would never let her forget it if he beat her up in a sparring match. She needed something to level the playing field. So… hesitantly, Kacey slid on the loaded gloves, throwing a few test punches into the air. They were heavier on her fists than she’d expected.

This would be alright, wouldn’t it? It was just to level the playing field and make sure she could hold her own, so that her message would get through about not cheating anymore. So that she could see him flounder after realizing he had normal, unloaded gloves on. It wasn’t really cheating. It’s not like she planned to do any real harm to him with these things on, it was just to better defend herself… So it should be fine. He was a pro boxer man, and she was an amateur boxing woman, so this would just make the sparring match a bit more more fair to keep her safe while she laughed at his reaction to his failed cheating.

When Daniel arrived for training, and Kacey made the offer to have a sparring match with him, Daniel readily accepted. He wouldn’t normally fight a girl, and he thought she was quite pretty, but he also had his own frustrations he wanted to take out on her for being such a know-it-all nuisance. Besides, it’s not like a sparring match is a real fight. He would just put her in her place real quick and leave it there.

Daniel was confident going into the match, and extremely pleased at the chance to let off some steam at Kacey for always being on his back. What good luck that she’d decided to challenge him. His methods made sure that he had never lost, never been knocked out, and had a very promising career ahead of him. After he knocked her down and made her quit, hopefully she’d get off his ass from then on, and maybe start being nice for a change.

As usual, Daniel was just laughing off Kacey as she gave him an earnest promise of a difficult fight... at first.
