2 AM

Nika thought about her old life — back in Minsk. Alina came to her heart and mind when things were quiet. When she couldn’t move away from the truth…

She had danced with Nadia for hours. The music melted away into a street corner smoking cigarettes.

2 AM strange thoughts spoken out loud.

“It would be cool to have a pet raccoon,” Nika offered.

Nadia laughed.

“What… I’m serious… Have you seen their little hands…” Nika said, “They are like little people-hands.”

“I had enough of raccoons back home…” Leon said, “They eat through the dumpster and leave a mess for me to clean up in the morning…”

“That’s because they are hungry!” Nika laughed, “Feed them bacon and eggs and they’d be completely civilised.”

“Bacon and eggs?” Nadia laughed.

Then Nika was at home in the dark. In her flat shared with five others. Sat on the edge of her bed and sighed.

I’ll call in sick tomorrow… I’m too wasted…
