You didn't sleep that night. Instead you sat in the corner with Failsafe in your arms. Several times you though about getting up to try and do something, but never did. How could you? Before, you would have had the confidence to, but now you didn't even want to try to comprehend the inner workings of an exo.

You stayed in the corner until your body was trying to **** you to sleep. You almost did drift off too, but a small, almost unnoticeable mechanical humming started. At first you thought it was just Failsafe, but when you realised it wasn't you jumped to your feet. You instantly started looking for the source, and just when you were about to give up, the lense of Lilly's ghost lit up.

You felt as though a weight was lifted from you as you dropped to your knees.

"John?" Lilly's ghost starts. "When did I get here? Where are we?" The ghost spins around and then floats to make eye contact with you. "John. What's wrong? Did something happen?" The eye of the ghost drifts to your bed. "Oh that's what happened." They say nonchalantly.

You stand and watch as white particles surround Lilly's body.

The light in her eyes return and her mechanical hum starts too. She gasps and jolts to an upright position.

"I knew you could do it!" She pumps a fist into the air.

You punch her arm. "You two scared me half to ****." You bring a hand to your heart. "Do you know how long it took for you to wake up!?" You point at Lilly's ghost. "And you literally died!" You yell to Lilly. "You knocked on my door asked me to fix your ghost and ignore you, then died." You fold your arms. "Do you know how messed up that is? I didn't know if I did it or not! Your ghost didn't move for several hours!"

You continue to ramble the same points repeatedly.

Lilly rises from your bed and hugs you tightly. "Thank you. John." Lilly tightens her embrace more as she speaks in the most sincere voice you've heard from her.

You return the hug. "Of course."

"Wonderful..." Failsafe kills the mood with her pessimistic voice.

"It is isn't it." Lilly's ghost floats over next to Failsafe. "If it could, It would bring a tear to my eye."

"Right..." Failsafe responds.

When Lilly eventually breaks the embrace she sits back down on your bed. "Sorry about the trouble." She tilts her head as she speaks cheerfully.

"What even happened?" You ask, sitting next to her.

"Well I left early that morning claiming to my fireteam that I was going to help Sloane at the rig." She snickers. "Obviously, that wasn't what I was doing... I was really trying to steal some resources from the rig."

"Against my better judgment." Lilly's ghost points out.

"You act like you aren't with my motives."

The ghost's plating lifts slightly as if to shrug.

"Anyway, things got hairy and my ghost took some critical damage. I was fine, but when I was running they really lit me up." She sighs, a mechanical crackle present. "I'm surprised I was able to get out of there. My ship took heavy damage getting away... As soon as I could I had Sherbet-" She brings a hand to her mouth and looks at her ghost.

"Really?" Her ghost asks with a clear tone of disappointment.

You stand too. "So when Athena was called by Zavala, it was because you went missing."

Lilly shrugs. "Probably."

You chuckle and unlock the door. "Don't make me do that again." You tell Lilly as she leaves.

You lay in your bed to get some much needed sleep. The image and feeling of Lilly hugging you fill your mind as you drift to sleep.
