You were a ruthless and self-serving kind of private eye, who did your job for the money. You worked for the highest bidder even if that wasn't your original client. It didn't matter what they wanted you to do. As long as they paid well, you were willing to do just about anything.

But the one thing you didn't want to do was get involved in anything too complicated. After all, failures are bad for your reputation, and somehow you had a good reputation to maintain.

Life was generally going very well for you.

First, you managed to catch the cat that ran away with the owner's diamond brooch wrapped around his neck. Not only you just had to set up some good cat food and simply wait for the cat to get hungry and just return home. The owner was a very well-preserved widower who thanked you generously for your efforts, both in cash and nature.

Then you got a daughter of a patriarch to return home. It was not easy as the wanton slut seemed to throw herself at you at every opportunity, but you knew better not to put your strap-on into crazy. She got disowned in the end anyway and ended up as a whore. But you got a nice reward from the father.

Your only stumble - although a major one - was a failed affair that resulted in getting chased out of town. He assured you that the spouse knew about it and was open to it. Maybe you will even do a ménage-à-trois. Turns out they were told you were a dance instructor. You were still kicking yourself over it. How easily he played you.

You flicked the cigarette letting the ash fall on the floor. The previous tenant didn't seem to believe in ashtrays either, as the floor was covered with dust. You will need to clean it up. Not like you could afford a maid.

What a shitty place - you thought as you looked around the place. Jacek really fucked you on this one. You made sure to repay him for it when the opportunity presented itself.
